time period/s if the works are historical artifacts?
- The National Museum of the Philippines started collecting arts in
December 1901 in the islands of Mindoro, Cagayan de Sulu, Cuyo,
Palawan, and Culion. The time period that these artworks were
created are during the impressionism, post-impressionism, and the
expressionism period.
2. What are the primary materials of the cultural item/s and/or art forms?
- The materials used in creating these arts were terra cotta and
plaster cast. The art form is sculpture. Sculpture is a pivotal or
crucial property in the National Museum of the Philippines.
3. Who and what are the influences of the design?
- The arts in Gallery V of the National Museum were created to
simply honour our National Hero which is Dr. Jose Rizal. The
arts/sculptures is one of the most important and the most
meaningful arts in the museum as he, Rizal, paved the way to reach
the freedom or independence that we want.
4. Who are their target market if the items are for sale? If for display only,
who are the usual visitors and what are their primary reasons for their
visits?
- The arts/sculptures are for display only. Many foreigners are
visiting the museum but the common or usual visitors were our
fellow Filipinos. Their primary reason for their visits is not just to
take pictures and brag it online but also to see personally or lively
the famous/historical arts and to be amazed by the beauty of the
artworks. And aside from that, there are people who dreamt to be
in the museum since they were kids which is I think one of the
reason why they visit in it. Lastly, people also visit the museum for
certain purposes like research making and sometimes for
assignments in school in hopes of giving a better answer or a better
understanding about a certain art if they will see it in person.
