PROJECT NAME : Automatic Tilt-Up Garage Door

INTRODUCTION

Automatic Tilt-Up Garage Door allows you to open and close the garage door. These openers
work by using switch type control. When the switch is turned on, the garage door automatically
opens (Tilt-up) and if the switch is turning off the garage door closes (Tilt-down).

OBJECTIVE

To solve the main problem of the branch with the existing rollup garage door which is:
-To increase the width of the garage entry for cars.
-High maintenance cost.

TESTING AND EVALUATION

We have installed an Automatic Tilt-Up garage door in one of the drive-in rooms at Hotel Sogo
Harrison.

Evaluation : Based on the table above the aesthetics of the proposed automatic tilt-up door is
more pleasing in terms of color , design, materials, size and space compared to the existing roll
up door. Comparing the weight of the existing roll upland tilting door, the latter is 33% more
heavy.

Evaluation :
Based on the trial test result as shown above, in terms of functionality; the existing rollup door
is much faster to operate than the new automated tilt-up door. The main issue of the variance
is the 15 cm/s maximum speed of the machine with that the automatic garage door was slowing
down the opening and closing of it. If a manual operation will be used on the other hand, it will
be too heavy to open and close the new door. We are considering changing the material used
for the door panels and frame which is more lightweight and compact to lessen the weight and
operate it faster.

Considering the Manual Operation of the New Garage Door Tilt-Up System, below are the
operating guidelines:

A . Procedure for Manual operation (From open to Close)

be pulled down to close it completely.

rope in 45 degrees. Note that it will lock the system once you hear the trigger sound.

D. Procedure for Manual operation with Vehicle inside (From Close to Open and From Open to
Close)

Step 2. It requires two person to return the manual to automatic. The first person will look out
for the black slider and he/she will notify the other person if the rope needs to be toggled. Once
the cable reaches the end of the pulley that's the time that you need to pull the rope in 45
degrees. Note that it will lock the system once you hear the trigger sound.

Evaluation: This table shows that the automatic tilt-up door is 55% more effective in terms of
lifespan of door panel and Motor. In consideration to the repair and maintenance cost, the roll
up door is more expensive because it will be easily damaged once a car bumped into it and we
will automatically be charged Php 6,000 for it. The tilting door on the other hand is more
durable because of the materials used and the maintenance for will only be Php 800.

RECOMMENDATION
We recommend the use of an automatic tilt-up garage door which will replace the existing roll
up door with the unit cost of Php 40,000. This will reduce the maintenance cost, save garage
space and automate it which will provide ease of use to those who are checking in the drive-in.
This automatic tilt-up garage door also has an edge in terms of aesthetics (color,design and
materials), functionality and safety features. This type of garage door is also recommended
because of its durability which tends to have a longer life span. The automatic garage door will
be implemented during renovations for all of our existing roll up doors and for all the future
projects for a drive-in.
