The document outlines pump design data and parameters for modeling pump performance in a reservoir simulation including:
1) Design criteria such as production rate, outlet pressure, reservoir pressure, fluid properties, and pump details.
2) Computed pump parameters like number of stages, efficiency, power, pressures, and head based on the entered design conditions.
3) Options to select a pump from the database, calculate its performance, view plots of performance curves, and install the pump into the reservoir model.

o o Design Production rate: Desired flowrate through the pump in stock-tank units. The actual flowing quantity will be computed. o o Design Outlet Pressure: the required outlet pressure of the PIPESIM model when the pump is installed. It is recommended to only model the well [and no associated flowline or riser] while designing the ESP system. In this case the outlet pressure would then be the wellhead pressure. o o Static Reservoir Pressure: Taken from the PIPESIM model or can be entered. o o Water cut. Taken from the PIPESIM model or can be entered. o o GOR (or GLR). Taken from the PIPESIM model or can be entered. o o Pump Depth: The depth at which the pump is to be installed. This is taken from the PIPESIM model if a pump is already installed or can be entered. o o Casing ID: The casing size that the pump has to fit into. Usually 3.38 to 11.25 in. o o Design Frequency: The frequency/speed that the pump is expected to run at. o o Gas Separator Efficiency. The efficiency of the gas separator if installed. o o Head factor: Allows the pump efficiency to be factored (default = 1). o o Viscosity Correction. All pump performance curves are based on water systems, this option will correct for oil viscosity. o o Select Pump: Will use the available data to select suitable pumps from the database. The pump intake conditions will first be computed. The resulting pump list can be sorted by efficiency or Maximum flowrate by selecting the column header. The Manufactures to select from can be filtered. Errors in the simulation. Pump parameters o o Calculate. Calculate pump performance at the conditions specified. Errors in the simulation o o Stage-by-stage. Perform the stage calculations on a stage-by- stage basis. Default = stage-by-stage. o o Selected Pump: The pump selected, by the user, from the design data o o No. of Stages required. The computed number of stages for this pump under these conditions. o o Pump efficiency @ Design rate. The efficiency of the pump at the design production rate. o o Pump power required. The power required for this pump to deliver the required flowrate. o o Pump intake pressure. The computed pump intake pressure. o o Pump discharge pressure. The computed pump discharge pressure. o o Head required. The computed pump head required. o o Liquid density. The computed liquid density at the pump intake. o o Free gas fraction at inlet conditions. The computed gas fraction. o o Pump performance plot – plot performance curves at different speeds o o Pump curves – plot standard performance curves o o Install pump – Install the pump into the tubing of model. This will replace any existing ESP but not gas lift valves.
