I Agri: Agriculture to develop Philippine economy

The Philippine agriculture sector is an essential factor in the development Philippine economy. It
is the “backbone of the economy” because of its significance to the employment and income of Filipinos
and the economy as a whole. It alleviates the increase of poverty in the country because it provides greater
employment opportunities in both rural and urban areas. With that in mind, I agree that the Philippine
agriculture sector is also the hope of the country’s economy.
There is abundant importance of agriculture in our economy. The first is that it can be a source of
livelihood for many Filipinos. The second is its contribution to the Philippine income because some
agricultural products are exported. Lastly, it is the foundation of a stable economy because raw materials
come from agriculture and are essential inputs of production.
However, there are still problems that the agricultural sector encounters before it becomes a hope
for the Philippine economy. The significant conflict is the lack of interest of youth in agricultural studies and
activities. If the youth remains uninterested in the field of agriculture, food security in the Philippines will be
compromised and its economy will decrease.
With the rise of that conflict, I need to persuade the youth in agricultural studies by thoroughly
searching, studying, and knowing the significance of our country’s agriculture to the Philippine economy. I
have to study the economic factors affecting the agriculture sector. I have to search for the benefits of using
agriculture for the maximization of its resources for the economy. I also have the responsibility to know
about the components of agriculture and how will it correlate to the Philippine economy. In those ways, I
can communicate accurate ideas to the youth on how agriculture plays an important role in the country’s
economy.
Nonetheless, there is always room for agriculture in the Philippine economy. The vast significance
that it can help to increase the livelihood of its citizens, to contribute to the Philippine income, and to balance
our economy can somehow alleviate the situation of our country’s problem economically. There are still
conflicts that may hinder the agriculture sector to develop but with knowledge, we can accurately spread
useful information regarding it. My plan of action may not be a big movement, but actions that may only
appear small are often effective in the long run.
