The 3R’s Of Waste Management

One of the best ways to conserve the environment and prevent pollution
and waste distribution is following the three R’s of waste management.
They help to cut down on the amount of waste we throw away. They
conserve natural resources, landfill space and energy. These 3R’s can not
only save the environment ,but your precious money as well.
In this edition, we will be majorly focusing on the First R that is, REDUCE.
REDUCE: The word reduce means “to lessen”. Something can not trouble you if it doesn’t exist, right?
Similarly, the best way to manage waste is to NOT produce it. This can be done by buying only the
absolutely essential stuff and refraining from buying things that are neither durable nor beneficial as
they would just end up as waste in the end.
There is a reason why this is the First R of recycling. Reducing waste is the most effective way of waste
management.
Reducing waste saves money. If you won’t buy useless stuff, it would obviously save money. Therefore,
reducing waste and shopping carefully can not only benefit the environment, but also benefit you . A
pretty good deal and a win-win situation if you ask me(profitable for both the sides). So why not give it
a try?
Here are a few ways you can practice reducing waste:
Looking for durable items is the key to reducing waste. If they are nice and durable, they can last a long
while and also save money. Durable goods that have an extended warranty generally last longer and
save on landfill space.
For example: Use of cloth napkins instead of kitchen towels or paper napkins as they are more durable.
Avoid buying goods with excess packaging. There is nothing much that can be done about the paper
and plastic packaging on the goods-they are simply waste that have to be discarded anyway. Not to
mention that goods with excess packaging cost a lot more than the ones with less packaging.
Tip: Buy items in bulk to reduce the overall amount of packaging used
Avoid use of disposable plates, spoons, glass, cups, and napkins.
Try borrowing things you don’t need often instead of unnecessarily buying them.
Avoid excess use of paper and plastic materials or accessories as they increase the amount of waste.
Also, plastic does not decompose so it’s harmful for the environment.
Since we no longer live in the world of the 50’s, we no longer need to send paper mails(or pigeons) to
get our messages through. We can simply use our free and convenient internet to send mails,
messages, text etc.
The earth needs you, LET’S RESCUE!
In the next edition, we will discuss about the second R of waste management, equally as important-
REUSE. Stay Connected!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui who needs no introduction has proved his mettle time and again
as an actor. The Versatility King is a name in the world of entertainment that shows
nothing less than excellence.
It is not surprising that the actor was awarded last night with Excellence in Cinema
Award at the Filmfare Middle East Achievers Night held in Dubai that saw the
presence of more than 100 eminent personalities from the Indian Film Industry.
Siddiqui, after receiving the award said, "For an artist, there is no bigger reward than
the audience giving you their love and appreciation for your work and I am glad to see
people here in Dubai giving me so much love. To receive an award among a much vibrant audience here in Dubai is
heartwarming to say the least."
The actor has also been nominated at Emmy International Awards for Serious Men directed by Sudhir Mishra that
released on Netflix last year. He is the only Indian actor nominated in the ‘best performance by an actor’ category for
Emmy this year alongside Christian Tappan (The Great Heist), David Tennant (Des) and Roy Nik (Normali).
While the actor shot for four films this year (Heropanti 2, Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Adbhut and Sangeen), his international film
No Land’s Man has already started its festival circuit. Siddiqui is all set to start shooting for Kangana Ranaut’s
production Tiku Weds Sheru in November.

2021 Porsche Taycan EV coming to India in November

German sports carmaker Porsche is setting the stage to bring its

first-ever fully-electric Taycan to India sometime in November.
The four-door performance coupé comes in four variants with
two distinguishable battery sizes that are present in international
markets. Interestingly, the brand delivered 28,640 Taycan
models worldwide between January to September 2021.
Even though the Taycan is an electric vehicle, it bears the
typical sporty characteristic of other Porsche models. There are
familiar four-pointed daytime running lights with a full-LED headlight setup, while the rear end features a slender
LED light bar reminiscent of the legendary 911.
Inspired by the iconic 911 in 1963, the cockpit of the Taycan is a modern art piece. There are multiple displays
inside, including the largest 16.8-inch curved driver display. Even the co-passenger gets an individual touchscreen
display. Apart from that, the fascia does not have many switches - everything is integrated into the centre displays.
The Taycan sets a shining example when it comes to performance. It is one of the fastest electric cars in the world
in terms of acceleration tests. Technically, Porsche offers two battery sizes - 76kWh and 93.4kWh. The biggest one
is capable of developing a staggering 751bhp and an astronomical 1,050Nm of torque - when launch control is
activated.
These figures, in reality, mean - zero to 100kmph in just 2.8 seconds while 200kmph from stationary comes in 9.6
seconds. The Taycan has a top speed of 260kmph, and more importantly, it can travel up to 416km on a full
charge as per WLTP. Porsche claims that the saloon can be charged in 22.5 minutes from 5 to 80 per cent using a
270kW super-fast charger whereas an 11kW one takes about nine hours to go from zero to 100 per cent.

The Invention of Computers

A computer is a machine that can be programmed to carry
out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations
automatically. These programs enable computers to
perform a wide range of tasks. So now let us understand
how was the computer invented. A computer is an
advanced calculator. The abacus was one of the first
calculators. The first abacus was called as Chinese
Saunpan.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first
known use of computers was in a 1613 book called The
Yong Mans Gleanings by the English writer Richard
Braithwait, this usage of the term referred to a human-
computer, a person who carried out calculations or
computations.
Charles Babbage, an English mechanical engineer,
originated the concept of a programmable computer.
Considered the "father of the computer he conceptualized
and invented the first mechanical computer in the early
19th century. For output, the machine would have a printer, a curve plotter and a bell. The machine
would also be able to punch numbers onto cards to be read in later. The Engine incorporated an
arithmetic logic unit, control flow in the form of conditional branching and loops, and integrated
memory. The machine was about a century ahead of its time. All the parts for his machine had to be
made by hand – this was a major problem for a device with thousands of parts. Eventually, the
project was dissolved with the decision of the British Government to cease funding. Babbage's
failure to complete the analytical engine.
By 1938, the United States Navy had developed an
electromechanical analog computer small enough to use
aboard a submarine. This was the Torpedo Data
Computer, which used trigonometry to solve the problem
of firing a torpedo at a moving target. During World War
II similar devices were developed in other countries as
well.
The principle of the modern computer was proposed by
Alan Turing in his seminal 1936 paper. He proved that
such a machine is capable of computing anything computable by executing instructions (program)
stored on tape, allowing the machine to be programmable. The fundamental concept of Turing's
design is the stored program, where all the instructions for computing are stored in memory.
Nowadays the modern computer are in form of Laptops and Mobile phones and PCs.

Can You Drown In The Dead Sea?

Your answer must be yes, right? You must be thinking

that anybody who cannot swim will obviously drown,
whether it is a swimming pool or the dead sea.
However, that is not 100% true. Confused? Let’s find
then what happens if a person falls in dead sea.
So, let’s Dive in To find more.
Dead sea has a huge amount of salt dissolved in it as
compared to any other sea or ocean. The presence of
this salt increases density of water present in the
dead sea. Higher density leads to greater buoyant
force. As the dead sea has very high density, it exerts
enough amount of buoyant force to make us float on it. So, if we can float on the dead sea, we
are definitely not going to drown in it. Now you must be wondering what is buoyancy ?
Water exerts an upward force This force is called buoyant force and the tendency of water to
exert that buoyant force is called buoyancy.
Next time, if someone claims and tells you if a person doesn’t know swimming they will
drown in each and every sea or ocean .

An Oil Spill Devastated Mauritius

In July, a Japanese tanker ran aground on a coral reef

off the coast of Mauritius and an estimated quarter
of the ship’s 4,000 tons of heavy bunker oil leaked
into the surrounding ocean. Though the spill wasn’t
one of the biggest in recent years, it made headlines
because it occurred in a sensitive hotspot of
biodiversity. The oil entered two UNESCO Ramsar
sites, wetlands of international importance, including
the Blue Bay Marine Park reserve that forms the basis of Mauritius’ tourist-based economy.
The coral reefs, mangrove forests and seagrass beds in the affected area will all likely suffer
significant damage, including species die offs and chronic health issues. Residents of all ages
took it upon themselves to help steer the oil away from shore by building booms made of
clothing, plastic bottles and sugar cane leaves. The tanker’s company aims to complete oil
cleanup by January, but as seen in other notorious spills, the damage to the ecosystem will
likely continue for many years.

Lord Rama Temples Across India

 Ram Raja Temple, Madhya Pradesh

The temple is situated in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh. It lies on the bank of
river Betwa. The story behind the temple is that the queen of Orcha was
an ardent devotee of Lord Rama. She once went to Ayodhya with a
desire to bring her revered deity back in the form of a boy. Lord Rama
agreed to come with her to Orchha but with a condition that he would
not move from one temple to another, but will stay where she would
initially house him. A temple was constructed for Lord Rama. When the temple was ready he
refused to move because of the condition he had set with the queen. Therefore, the queen's palace
eventually became the Ram Raja Temple. Here, Lord Rama is worshipped not just as a God, but also
as a King. He even gets a gun salute! On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, thousands of
devotees queue up for darshan.

 Sita Ramachandraswamy Temple, Telangana

It is one of the famous Ram Mandir in India. It is located in Telangana.
On Ram Navami day it is the venue of grand celebrations when the
wedding anniversary of Lord Rama and his consort Sita takes place with
much fanfare. The temple is also known as the Bhadrachalam temple. It
is said that Lord Rama has crossed the river Godavari on his way to Sri
Lanka to rescue Sita and at this spot, the Bhadrachalam temple stands,
on the northern bank of the river..

 Raghunath Temple,Jammu
The temple has seven shrines each with its own Shikara and is one of
the largest temple complexes of north India which is located in Jammu
city. The temple was built by Maharaja Gulab Singh and his son Maharaj
Ranbir Singh during the period of 1853-1860. The temple has many
gods enshrined but the presiding deity is Lord Rama.

Ram Mandir, Bhubaneswar, Odisha

The temple is situated near Kharavel Nagar in Bhubaneswar. As situated
in the heart of the city is one of the most famous temples for the
devotees of Lord Rama. The temple has beautiful images of Lord Rama,
Lord Lakshmana, and Goddess Sita. It is built and managed by a private
trust. Also, the temple complex consists of shrines devoted to Lord
Hanuman, Lord Shiva, and other gods.

The Tower of Babel

Mentioned in Genesis 11 of the Bible, the legend of the Tower of Babel is an intriguing one that proposes an
explanation of the diversity in man’s multiple languages that exist all over the world. It is believed that
initially, all men on Earth spoke the same language. This tower is considered to be the first skyscraper to ever
exist. This tower was intended to reach the heavens so that one may ascend and commune directly with God
himself.
The Babylonians decided to construct a building so high, that it would touch the heavens. The structure
would demonstrate their creativity and resourcefulness to build and to prevent the people from wandering
off and scattering in different regions of the world, as the building would be a gigantic structure they could
gaze upon and not get lost. The intentions of the Babylonians seemed to be benign, however it is disputed
that their desire to reach heaven was a sign of arrogance and hubris, equalling themselves with God is
considered to be a sin in itself. So the Gods in heaven decided that the construction of such a building must be
ceased instantly since it would allow man to have access to heaven whenever he fancied and would also
interfere with the ‘Grand Scheme of Things’. They agreed that man’s ambition cannot be suppressed and it
was very well possible for them to build a temple to reach heaven. In order to hinder the progress of this
construction, God did what these humans were avoiding: he scattered them to ends of the earth and confused
their language. He prevented the completion of this mission and men began venturing away. Unable to
comprehend the distinct languages, communication could not take place, and the inability to converse led to
the construction of the great architectural feat to come to a standstill. The tower came to be known as the
Tower of Babel, babel coming from the Hebraic term ‘balan’, meaning to jumble or confuse.
The main theme of this story is the often unspoken competition between man and the creator, man’s
ambition and his desire to stand toe-to-toe with Him, quite literally as seen in the story of this tower. This
type of thinking on man’s part, wishing to be His equal, receives disapproval and in-tolerance from God as
seen in history and legends numerous times. However, we also get a glimpse of mercy here on the creator’s
part as how he stopped the further construction of this tower by confusing the humans with altered
languages and preventing bloodshed by not destroying the building.
Numerous versions of this same story can be seen in different traditions where a group of men set an
intention to build a foundation of heaven on earth, only for their languages to be disrupted or altered.
Etemenanki Ziggurat of Sumer dedicated to Marduk, suffered the same fate of never being finished. It
appeared to be cursed and thus, even after attempts from Nebuchadnezzar II and other rulers, could never be
completed. A similar story is told in the Mexican folktales revolving around Giants who once roamed the land
and set off to find the sun, building the Pyramid of Cholula in order to ascend into the skies to achieve this
feat. This angered the inhabitants of the sky who destroyed the tower and disseminated the giants across the
world as punishment.
In these stories the tower is left in ruins and the gods unleash their anger on those who dare to reach them
by disunifying them with barriers of language.

An ancient inscribed stone tablet discovered, which shows what the Tower may have looked like

As the Halloween season comes with a gust of initial winter

temperatures, we will see a lot of pumpkins, whether they are craved
for spooking someone or pumpkin spice latte or most famously
preferred our all time favorite- pumpkin pie.
Pumpkin pie is pumpkin plus custard filled pie dessert. It is usually
prepared during Halloween or thanksgiving season. Sometimes it is
topped with whipped cream or icing.
It is native to the continent of North America. The pumpkin was an early
export to France; from there it was introduced to Tudor England, and
the flesh of the “pompion” was quickly accepted as pie filler. During the
seventeenth century, pumpkin pie recipes could be found in English cookbooks, such as Hannah
Woolley’s The Gentlewoman’s Companion (1675). Pumpkin “pies” made by early American
colonists were more likely to be a savory soup made and served in a pumpkin than a sweet custard
