Convergence in the context of networking is a term used to describe the process of

combining voice, video, and data communications over a common network infrastructure.
Technology advances have made convergence readily available to large, medium, and small
businesses, as well as for the home consumer. In this lab, you will research the converged
services available to you.

Part 1: Survey Your Understanding of Convergence

Step 1: Describe convergence as you understand it and provide examples of its use in the
home

Write a definition of convergence and list at least three examples

 - Two different entities coming together. It means that a single device has a two
or more different technologies. It is developed to make users life easy and
convenient.

Part 2: Research ISPs Offering Converged Services

You will research and find two or three ISPs who offer converged services for the
home, regardless of geographical location.

Step 1: Research various ISPs that offer converged services.

- PLDT is my top choice from the local ISPs. I chose this ISP because it offers a
fast internet connection and is cheap. This ISP also gives promo occasionally.

Part 5: Research Local Companies or Public Institution Using Converge technologies

In part 5, you will research and locate a company in your area that currently uses
convergence technologies in their business.

Reflection

1. Identify at least two advantages of using converge technologies?

 - The advantages of using technological technologies are that it is faster and
convenient because two technology is on the same infrastructure. It is also
inexpensive to operate than having two sets of infrastructure.

2. Identify at least three disadvantages of using converge technologies?

- The disadvantages of using converge technologies are if the network has a
problem, everything will have the problem and feel the effects. It also takes
too much memory space. Another disadvantage is that it is prone to cyber-
attacks and malfunctioning.

OBSERVATION:
- Doing the activity, I understood what convergence technologies are and its
purpose. I came to know how it helps users through network and that the
local internet service providers also use convergence technologies. There are
also various companies that has convergence technologies.

CONCLUSION:
- Convergence technologies has helped the technology improved a lot and also
its users because of how convenient it is. We can do and have so many things
with the use of a single device. Although for some people, especially the older
generations, convergence technologies might be a bit confusing. And although
it has helped us in many ways, it also has disadvantages when it is used.
