Walk Around the Globe

What is Walk Around the Globe?

As part of the Fit to Lead initiative, HBA Greater Philadelphia is challenging our
members to come together and walk 50 million steps by the end of the year – that’s
the 25,000 miles it takes to walk around the globe.

It may sound like a herculean effort, but there are approximately 2000 steps in a mile
and they add up fast. If each of our chapter members walked just 1 mile a day for 5
days that would be almost 8 million steps!

How can I join the challenge?

Our chapter has created a virtual walking community and everyone is invited to join.

Visit bit.ly/WalkAroundtheGlobe create a username and password and get

steppin’ – it’s that simple.

How do my steps count?

Keep track of your steps with a pedometer, a mobile app or even a simple
spreadsheet. Then log into the site and create an entry on your stats page. Your steps
automatically get counted in the team tally. You can set your own personal goals,
monitor our team’s progress and see who is in the lead each time you log in.

Remember to convert your other activities into steps too. Pilates, gardening, painting
or even grocery shopping – every step counts. See the Walk Around the Globe
conversion chart for some of the most common activities. A more comprehensive
step converter is on our website.

Join the challenge today!

Get moving and get fit with the support and encouragement of the Fit to Lead
community. Compete with your peers for bragging rights as well as prizes to be
awarded at the end of the year party.
