1. What is herbarium?
A herbarium is a valuable resource for studies on biodiversity,
ecology, and evolution. It's a primary data source of dried and
tagged plant specimens that's organized to make retrieval
and archival storage simple. A herbarium is similar to a library,
but the knowledge is kept in biolo Herbarium are collections of
specimens gathered over a wide geographic range and over a
long period of time. Typically, many samples of individual
species gathered from various habitats are saved so that
variation among individuals can be documented and linked to
ecological or evolutionary reasons.gical form––pressed, dried,
and annotated plant specimens.

2. What is the importance of

herbarium

Herbarium is significant because it is a source of information

on a state's, locality's, or country's flora. It's also a data
storage where you may find plant-related information. It
serves as a repository for gene pool research. Several
herbaria have been built at centers as a result of its
relevance, and it is extremely beneficial in the study of
cytology, DNA structure, numerical taxonomy,
chaemotaxonomy, and other topics. The public can use the
herbarium as an educational platform
3. What are the uses of
herbarium?

A herbarium is a store of preserved plant specimens and data

for scientific research. A herbarium's specimens are frequently
used as reference material in the description of plant species;
some specimens may be types. It's also utilized to supply
material for morphological measurements and information on
uncommon, extirpated, or extinct species that no longer exist
in the wild. This also traces the history of binomial usage in a
given area for a given taxon.
