Diosdado “Dado” P. Banatao, A Fiipino


Entrepreneur and Engineer and the founder
of Philippine Development Foundation, Dado
Banatao Educational Foundation, and etc. He
pursued his Bachelor of Science in Electric
Engineering from the Mapúa Institute of
Technology and graduated cum laude and
after turning down job offers and joining
Philippine Airlines. He got his Master of
Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science at Stanford University. He received
awards such as Asian Leadership Award,
Pamana ng Fiipino Award, Master Entrepreneur
of the Year Award, and Kalampusan Award.

Banatao is credited for devising a


more efficient way to link
computers, by simplifying the computer design with fewer chips,
that has made computers smaller, more portable and more
affordable. Banatao designed the first single-chip graphical user
interface accelerator that made computers work a lot faster, 16-bit
microprocessor-based calculator and in 1981, He developed the
first 10-Mbit Ethernet CMOS with silicon coupler data-link control
and transceiver chip. He was also credited for the first system
logic chip set for IBM's PC-XT and PC-AT.
