Purpose of induction programme

The purpose of induction program is to help new students adjust and feel comfortable in

the new environment, inculcate in them the culture of the institution, help them build

bonds with other students and faculty members. And faculty can know the ability and

skill of the student so faculty can help student for improving their skills. In this we the

students learnt about the institutional policies, processes, culture and values and our

mentor groups were also formed. We were made aware about the study module, had a

close interaction with the faculties and with this programme they were also able to judge

our abilities and disabilities and tried to groom us in the best way they can.
Learning outcomes from activities

Invocation Ceremony

We started the first day at St. Kabir Institute of Professional Studies with an Invocation

Ceremony. The ceremony started with the Saraswati Vandana, a mantra which is believed to

remove all the obstacles to success in one's education and career. We were then welcomed by

Chairman, Col. Vinod Kumar Tandon with a lovely speech which was followed by an address

by Chief Guest, Mr. Snehal Desai (Senior Vice President, Adani Group). We were also

addressed by Director, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Arora who gave us a brief idea of our journey of 2

years at the institute.

Ice-breaking activities

After the Invocation Ceremony we had Ice-breaking activities to help everyone get to know

each other and get comfortable. Firstly we had a “follow the instructions” activity where we

learnt how important it is to hear/read the instructions carefully before starting any work. Then

we had an activity where we made groups and tried to remember every member’s name which

was introduced by themselves with an adjective starting from the same letter as their name.

This activity was fun and it also helped making friends on the very first day. Our last activity

was on how important is teamwork and how we can work faster and solve any problems easily

if we work as a team.
Fundamentals in Financial Accounting for Managers

Many students have joined the institute and some of them are from commerce background

while others from non-commerce background. So two subjects were included in Induction

programme of which one was Fundamentals in Financial Accounting for Managers. This

subject was taught by Hitendra Lachhwani sir. The way sir taught was so good and he also

made sure to go at a slower pace so everyone could take their time to understand and revise the

basics of accounting. We learnt what accounting is, types of accounting, golden rules for entry

system, making journals, ledgers, balance sheet, p&l and cash flow with examples. We were

also given assignments so we could get a practical experience by making those ourselves. He

was also patient and made sure that everyone had cleared their doubts before moving on to next

topic.

Fundamentals in Statistics for Managers

The second subject was Fundamentals in Statistics for Managers which was taught by Poonam

Arora ma’am. She helped us understand that statistics is not only important in management but

also in our day to day life by giving us assignments to research and bring various day to day

uses of topics taken in class. She also was patient and made sure that everyone had cleared their

doubts before moving on to next topic. We learnt about set theories, types of numbers,

Cartesian planes, functions, exponents, overview on statistics, measures of statistics: mean,

median and mode and applications used in companies for statistics like Excel and SPSS.
Mentorship Programme

Mentorship is to become more competent as leaders and communicators as they guide and help

rising talent. Which is more experienced or more knowledgeable person help to guide a less

experienced or less knowledgeable person. We all appreciate and happy from this programme

because many student if we are in any problem some time we student can’t share with anyone

but are organization provide mentor to us so we can talk with them any time. They give us

clarity about our aspirations, achievements and concerns.

Movie Mania

Movie mania was conducted by Anuradha ma’am and Dhvani ma’am. In the particular session

we had the learning through movie analysis. We developed observation skills, critical thinking,

problem solving skills and decision making. We watched clips from Bajirao Mastani, Carbon

which taught us about sustainable development, Boss Baby and one film from 1986 that is Ek

Ruka Hua Faisla.

TED Talks

TED Talk is flagship video series of great talk and performance. TED is a dedicated to

researching and sharing knowledge that matters through short talks and presentations. Our

college organization arrange seasons on TED Talk. In this season we are learn about inspires to

go in totally different directions with our career.


Session on EEP Programme

Employee Enhancement Programme which is delivered by Dr. Vaishali Trivedi. EEP helps us

to improve our analytical skills, gestures and postures. And it is also helps us in speaking to

crowd and decrease our stage fear. Before this EEP we were not able to speak even a single

word in front of a crowd. Our PGDM journey started with EEP, it is new journey for us that

enhance our all development as an individual.

Workshop on Presentations : Speak so that People Listen


In this we learnt how to make presentations , types of presentations, structure of presentations ,

audience interaction. In this class we get to develop own communication skills, presentation

skills and management skills. We also get to know what mistakes we should avoid doing

presentations. Thank you Anuradha mam and Dhvani mam for passing this knowledge to us.

MOOC on Soft Skills : Succeed in the Workplace

This course was suggested by Kanika mam . ‘Succeed in the workplace’ is an online based

activity held under ‘Open Learn UNIVERSITY’. It’s an online course completed by the

students so that they should get an understanding about the career planning process,

recognising what interests and passions they have and start to identify possible career options

open to them.
MOOC On Communication Skills : Communications and Interpersonal

Skills at Work

It’s an online course from future learn suggested by Anuradha mam and Dhvani mam where

we came to know about the following things: Importance of good communication.

Communication style. Different communication platforms. Best approach to communicate.

Communication style of work place. Manage challenging conversations. At the end bringing

them all together and developing a communication plan.

PSYCHOMETRIC TEST AND SWOT ANALYSIS :

The psychometric test and SWOT analysis test were conducted by Dr. Vaishali Trivedi mam.

In psychometric test we identified our skills, knowledge and personality. This also helped us to

measure our suitability for the role. It also helped us to know what type of personality we have

introvert or extrovert, also our mind stability or mental health. SWOT analysis is a structured planning,

method used to evaluate the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats. By doing this activity we

came to know all the above four elements mentioned above. It involves specifying the objective and

identifying the internal and external factors that are favourable and unfavourable to achieve that

objective.

Session on Goal Setting

In this session we learnt about how to set a goal and how to achieve those goals. We also did

one exercise in that session to write our short term as well as long term goal. We also discussed

about what type of skills are required to achieve our goals like communication skill, teamwork,

networking, management skill and so on.


Session on Newspaper Analysis

In this session we learn about how to read news from the point of view of a management

student to gain more knowledge which is useful in current as well as in future. We also learnt

about content of newspaper like Market watch, Corporate news, Economy news, Global news

and Personal Finance.

Campus to Corporate Talk Series

● As a first talk session we were glad to listen to Mr. Milan Sanghavi sir. He gave advice

from industry experts to today's youth.

● We are in management and how to learn management from a corporate perspective

and that briefly share with us by Mr. Drupad Goswami sir.

● Every day we start by not planning how much it will cost in our life and for that Mr.

Rashesh Doshi Sir told us why the To Do list is important for Management

Students.

● Mr. Vincent D'Silva Sir gives us future knowledge about how you Etiquette At

Workplace.

● Mr. Kamlesh Gandhi gave us a very good advance for whom they want to be

entrepreneurs with the title of Decoding the basics of Entrepreneurship.


● If we have to find success, what is the most important thing? And that correctly

answered by Mr.Hiren Vakil Sir it's a Goal Setting.

● Skips teach me to study it's not depended on books and about that things Mr. Mitul

Bhatt Sir told us about Learning Management beyond the Books.

● Mr. Pratik Agarwal sir shares their experience how they face ups and down in their

career and how advertisements help him to make a good career.

AIESEC world cafe

This session or activity is totally different from all the other activities or sessions. It is very

energetic, entertaining, creative and fun loving activity. It is an event that brought all the

students together. By this we are able to interact with different people or students to discuss

various relevant issues prevalent in the world. By becoming a member of AIESEC world cafe

member we are able to understand or know the different cultures , people and their point of

view about the world around us.

Learning through Cases

In this session we learnt about various cases and we tried to solve the cases in groups. We

discussed the cases and got to know different ways of viewing at a case. In this case members

gave different opinions on case and there’s no correct answer.


Session on Universal human values under mentorship program

Our mentor Dr. Ankit Jain sir connected with us very well and for that he can relate the topic

with us very well. He thought of about how much importance of human values in our world and

for us also. He gave us clarity about our aspirations, achievements and concerns and how much

efforts we have to put on it. What are the differences between our happiness and prosperity?

Zumba Fitness Sessions

We started the sessions with a high intensity workout then we enjoyed the dance with great

music. The session had a good impact to our health. We ended the session with garba.

Yoga for wellness

This Yoga session is conducted in auditorium on 20 August. As of the current situation, health

issue is the most important concern for the all people. As a student it is not possible for all of us

to manage the time for yoga because of our busy study schedule. But as our college arrange the

yoga session for all of us this is really very much relaxing and enjoyable. As the yoga trainer

come and guide us how to do different yoga and how to balance our body while doing yoga.

The yoga trainer is really creative and amazing as we do yoga by playing the music in the

background by which students enjoy yoga with music. As of my personal opinion or review I

really like it.


Club Meet

Dr. Vaishali Trivedi ma'am gave us brief of clubs because it's the first time we

knew about it. In the Club meeting our club heads gave us very well clarity

about our club. Club gives me more connection with different division

students. And how to work together to help each other. As members of the

club we are learning about how to planning, organizing and managing with

creativity.

Workshop on Microsoft Excel

How much Microsoft Excel is important in professional life is very well

explained by Dr. Niral Halvadia sir. He gave us all basics to very commonly

used tools that help to clarify things about Excel. Like tools filter,

summarizing, format tables, condition formation etc.

They taught us how to work easily on Excel when you have knowledge about

simple and unique techniques of Microsoft Excel.

Rachna 2021: Unleashing the Creativity

This event was organized by the Utsav Club. It took place in auditorium. There

were many activities held like rangoli making, dancing, musical instruments,

short videos of home cooking by members of respective groups. It was a fun

event and we got to showcase our skills and creativity.

Conclusion

So, hereby we wrap up our presentation on the experience we had during these 21

days of induction programme and would like to deliver a thankful note to all the

faculties who made all the possible efforts to put on these hybrid sessions which

enhanced our knowledge and made it memorable.

You all had a big heart to provide us every possible help to shape our little mind.
