Good evening everybody, I’m Eylül and today I’m going to state my answers about the 3 questions

about the media and the press.

First of all, between the media roles that explained by Limpitlaw and Dan Rather, I would consider
the detective role of the media as a most important one. Because, as Limpitlaw states, if journalists
investigate corruptions and misconducts in the administration of public issues, this can lead to an
enlightenment in public and cause them to stand up against these wrongdoings.

Secondly, I think mass media can fulfill some of these responsibilities in my country. sometimes they
are not transparent enough and do not state the news frankly. The forbidance to acces to Wikipedia
can be considered as a specific example to the responsibility of press as catalyst for democracy and
development.

Finally, I do believe in total press freedom. It is important to provide public the information in
multiple perpectives so that they can consider the problem from various aspects. Some people may
state that this can bring chaos and misslead public with radical statements but I do not agree with
this assumption, public will still have multiple source to read and only a very very few part of news
will be like these. The freedom that people have a right to achieve on media is more important since
public is actually the major factor and actual administrator.
