Runing a Boundary

B. Eylül Ergün

In my urban ensemble, there are five complexes, 3 of them are connected with edgy integrations, which
provide physical continuity, and 2 of them are located to create proximity relation with together and the
other complexes. These complexes are located to create a public area with the bounding edges of them
utilizing closure. There is the main flow that leads people with main entrances in the company with the
router angular topography lines. These main entrances are not on a continuous line; it is fractured to
ensure that people experience the public area. Nevertheless, the main entries are more extensive than
these minor entrances so that the main flow is dedicated to this hierarchy. Also, it gives various directions
for achieving complexes. Minor entries provide the secondary flow, it gives a chance for people to
experience other paths and lateral spaces.

Code 1:
All of the complexes should maintain their common areas located harmoniously with the flow,
and all of them should be in the same size for procuring similarity. For emphasizing privacy
level and specialize common areas should be located 1m up, dissociated from entrance height of
that space.

Code 2:
Complexes should come together with both physical continuity and proximity relation. Edgy
integrations (physical continuity) should create passage under the edges of the bounding sides.
Also, if the complexes are not on the same height level, there should be an integration that occurs
from the extended part of the other complex. The complexes that are on the same height provide
good continuity.

Passages should not directly open into a main public area. They should first open into a transition
area, and then through it crosses into the main public area with implying the hierarchy of spaces.
