Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a third-year City and Regional Planning student at Middle East Technical University,
and at the same time, I am studying Industrial Design as a minor degree. During my research
about the Erasmus opportunities that my university offers, I've had a chance to meet with
Leiden University's Erasmus Programme. With the awareness of the importance of this
program, I would like to apply for an available scholarship.
I perceived it as an excellent opportunity for understanding and internalizing the different
aspects of urban planning and a unique learning experience to widen my knowledge. I'm
conscious of my interest in the design, culture, and conservation disciplines in urban planning,
but what inspires and motivates me most about my department is the multidisciplinary
approach. Therefore, with this aspiration, knowing that Leiden University offers a great wide
range of disciplines in its education, such as sociocultural, natural sciences, technology, law,
and economics, guide me to apply for this Erasmus program. I also comprehend that this
program is a great chance to become one of the significant phases of the decision-making
process about finding new points about my interests, finding entirely new individual interests
for my future career, and improving for that purpose.
In addition to this, for personal manners, I've known that it's a significant chance to get
familiar with the history and culture of the Netherlands, improve my language skills,
experience a multicultural environment, and obtaining different perspectives from different
people while furthering my social abilities.
I'm pleased to compose this motivation letter since involving in an Erasmus Programme that
Leiden University offers is a substantial opportunity for me both in academic and personal
manners, and I believe that it will help me in the future.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Best Regards,
B. Eylül Ergün
