Software Choices

Microsoft Paint
Microsoft paint is commonly used software when drawing and sketching however is it useful
for creating a poster? It is simple and has a range of colours useful to colour or edit a
picture. It can be used on any windows so it is accessible to anyone and everyone. Paint is
also free and you do not have to pay for upgrades for the app as it gets updated along with
the pc which will be easy for others who are not really good with technology.

However, the negatives Microsoft paint is that it hasn’t got the resource’s such as the brush
tool, blur tool as well as you cannot create layers In paint were as it Photoshop software you
can .It also has no filters and retouching options which can affect the quality of the
picture/image itself. These factors may only seem little however if there are better software
with better resource’s then you are more likely to get it better quality.

I did not choose this software as it seemed to be limited in providing good quality and
editing images and pictures. As I needed to create a poster graphic, paint was not the choice
as it could not provide a way of giving me a good quality poster that was needed for Dayz
Out. As well as these reasons I think paint overall is great software, however it is for younger
people who slowly understand the software’s provide.

Adobe Fireworks
Adobe fireworks is commonly known software around the world and has a range of
advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of this software is that it is easily accessible
and can when used is quick and responsive. It has a range of colour pallets and has all the
resource’s needed to create a good quality graphic. It works with other software’s for
example Photoshop. You can transfer an image file to fireworks from Photoshop with the
same quality it had before.

As well as fireworks being full of advantages, it has many negatives in the process and these
disadvantages can be a problem. Fireworks are not as popular as Photoshop and fireworks
provides less tools and options compared to Photoshop. Fireworks can cost a lot of money
when it comes to downloading the program for the computer .As well as this it is also very
complicated to use as you will need to learn it more in order to become an advantage for
graphics.

Other than the clear disadvantages it is the perfect choice compared to the other software’s
provided. The cost of the software did not matter as well as it was already hear on the
computer so did not take anything from my money. Overall this software was more of an
advantage for me.
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor which is yet again used by almost the entire
world due to the century we are in.However just like the other software there advantages
as everything comes with a price no matter how good it is.The advantages of this software is
that One of the biggest advantages is the fact that a person can easily make small edits on
photos that would otherwise be difficult. Changing skin colour, creating a high resolution
copy of the photo, adjusting brightness can all be done in just a few clicks when using Adobe
Photoshop.

The disadvantages of this software is that even though it is easy to use it isn’t good for
beginners getting started with photo editing as they will not understand the advanced
functions of the software to help then reach the editing they want or need. Adobe
Photoshop is also quite expensive just like fireworks and can be a really bad disadvantage
when it comes to people who cannot afford it.

The disadvantages is what put me of this software choice and I did not think it was the right
choice when it came to creating a digital graphic such as a poster. Even though there were
some good advantages it was still too expensive and the disadvantages affected and limited
what I wanted to do and most importantly what I needed to do.
