You are an apprentice writer at a film production company and you have been tasked with coming up with
an idea for the companies next big blockbuster film.
You have been asked to create a proposal for the film which will be pitched to the company executives. You
are free to decide the genre, story and who the target audience will be. The only thing you have been given
is the following log line to base your idea around:
“A group of teenagers are on a road trip to a festival. They are almost there when….”

Proposal Document
Title:
The title of the show would be ‘Never ending road’ as I believe it fits well with the given Log line and the potential idea I have for
the film.

Log Line:
The log line given is “A group of teenagers are on a road trip to a festival. They are almost there when….” In which I would finish
the log line with “the road ahead is blocked off causing them to divert onto a mysterious side road.

Genre:
The genre of my TV idea is going to be a comedy thriller in which will make sense when I explain the synopsis shortly. The reason
for me choosing these two genres for the movie is the idea I wanted the story to entertain the audience in a positive way while
also having them be excited for the next thing to happen in the story therefore the audience will not get bored easily.

Synopsis of the film’s opening act:

The story of the movie is going to be about a group of teenagers who are going to the famous festival ‘Tomorrow Land’ however
on their drive to the event they encounter obstacles such as the road being blocked off and crazy/funny encounters with
random people on the way. They will end up getting their tickets robbed in which they will be trying to find the robbers and
receive their tickets. They do so and end up going to the festival in which the story ends on a positive note with them enjoying
the festival. This idea could be considered the same as the 2002 movie ‘Crossroads’

At the start of the film the main characters will be seen to be getting ready for the road trip to the festival and will be see talking
to their family’s about the festival. The main characters will all meet up and get on the road to the festival making stops on the
way. They will come to a stop to fill up the gas for the car in which they will then book a hotel room due to it being nearly night
time and they are not willing to drive at night. When booking the room they will bump into another group who are also going to
the festival and they are invited to have a few drinks. They wake up with a hangover (to be expected) and head on the road until
they realise that their car is missing. Instantly they go to security in which they are told that one of them drove the car onto the
beach near the hotel and they tell them they have to retrieve the car themselves. They receive the car and off then go.

Then at around the middle of the movie duration they will end up having to pull over on the road due to a flat tire. They are left
in the middle of the motorway with no service to call anyone to help. With the problem at hand they decide to solve it by
hitchhiking to the festival and calling someone about the car when they arrive. They get in this family vehicle with very happy
family singing songs in which the main characters are not impressed by with them having a hangover and all. They ended up
rd
getting kicked out the car due to one of the characters throwing up all over the car after around the 3 song and they are left
with a good walk to go before arriving at the festival.

To end the movie off the main characters will reach the festival and all their problems are eased as they call a car service to pick
the car up which came to a reasonably cheap price and they was left to enjoy the festivle.During them enjoying the festival they
will see the other group they met at the hotel and partied with. They would eventually tell them about that night and show
them pictures and videos that will be played in behind the credits. This was significantly inspired by the movie “The hangover”,
however this is a female version and much more suitable for a younger audience.
Characters:
st
1 character: Hazel Timings is Jenny and Caroline’s best friend and is the responsible one of the group, she is also the oldest as
she is 23 years old. She will be the character within the story that helps resolve the problems and is in fact the calm character of
nd
the story. The 2 character is Jenny Bonnet who is the crazy one of the group which is possibly down to her being the youngest
rd
of the group with her being 21 years old and is the main one who causes most of the problems within the story. The 3
character is Caroline Williams and is 22 years old. She is the main character of the movie and will be the one who helps the
group get prepared for the trip and she will also be the main character whose story is being told.

Target Audience:
The target audience of the film is going to be 15-25 year olds due to the themes and content of the movie. The movie is most
suited to a younger audience due to the fact the main cast is really young and the content within the movie like the festival will
mostly attract a younger audience who will feel the same excitement of going to a festival and those who have already been to a
festival and possibly took a road trip to such an event will likely be able to relate with the semi-real experience. Someone who is
above the targeted audience that I’ve appointed to the film would likely not really like or relate to the storyline or the problems
the characters encounter on the way.

Another demographic that my target audience will be surrounded by is the Gender. In my opinion the movie will likely attract
more females then males as it has a female dominated cast and has a little amount of male casting. I think it’s also going to be
the case that the idea of a group of females on a roundtrip to a festival is more of a movie that a woman would enjoy then a guy
or at least stereotypically that is what would be expected.

The last demographic I would possibly say will have an impact on my target audience would be psychographics meaning
information that might be the audiences habits, hobbies, spending habits and values. It is likely that an audience who has
interests in festivals, road trips and dominated female films e.g. Crossroads, will likely want to watch this movie as it is
something that revolves around those 3 things.

Distribution Methods:
There are many ways of distributing media that will be useful in this case for example DVD and Blue ray are the typical way of
distributing media such as film and shows as it allows its audience to have a physical copy of the product. For the consumer they
get to have a physical copy of the film ad it can be accessed whenever they want to therefore not needing them to depend on
internet to access the product. The positive for the distributor in this case would be that they get additional costs as they would
obviously give the films to the cinemas and earn profit from that however they will gain more profit from a CD version for those
who don’t like going out.

However a negative of distubuting with this method is that the consumer may easily damage the CD or loose it therefore making
the payment of the film useless for the consumer. A negative of this distribution method on the distributor would be that The
Company would only be able to hold data of the CDs sold and will not be able to know if the film is still being watched many
years later. Therefore this distribution method is not very useful in the long run. Streaming however defies all those negatives of
that of the other distribution method as using streaming platforms like Netflix for example would be most beneficial to the
consumer as they are paying a small fee to have access to hundreds of movies and shows in which contain great quality. The
distributor will also have a positive outcome of this distribution method as they will have the other streaming company
advertise their product bringing in more money and views for that product being streamed.

However while this distribution methods comes with positives, it also comes with negatives for example In the consumers case
In order to stream films you would need to have access to online in which is not that much of a problem nowadays however is
still a problem when you want to access it anywhere other than your house where assumingly you have access to internet. It will
also affect the distributor in the way that it would be more beneficial for a company to have their product in cinemas as they
would receive more profit when the film is released.

In conclusion I would believe the best distribution method that the film production company could go for is the distribution
method that includes streaming. Due to streaming becoming very popular nowadays it’s in the company’s best interest that they
do distribute the film through streaming platforms as it will mean they are achieving a larger audience and helps them find out
the information they need including data and statistics. Not to mention Streaming the film will allow the audience to obtain the
film much more easily.
