"Coaching is the art of facilitating the performance, learning and development of another". It belongs to the family of
supporting techniques as training, mentoring, consulting, with some common core skills - like active listening and
asking questions. Coaching differs from the latter in the way that it focuses significantly more on non-directive way
of interaction.

A mentor will tell you "do what I do, you can rely on my experience". A trainer will deliver you a predefined
programme of knowledge and skills. A Consultant will assess the situation from his expert eyes and propose, and
eventually, implement a solution to the problems. A Coach will not.

Some of the main Coaching principles rely on the fact that the Coachee is the expert of his/her field and always
reaches his/her own objectives at best for him/her. And when the Coachee is in a deadlock, what is most valuable
for him is a non-directive support to reframe the situation and reconsider the way to look at the problem.
