1. Introduction
2. Objectives
Monitoring, Documentation and reporting of the possible effects from piling with pre-
determined parameters, i.e. Ground Vibration in mm/s, Noise levels in dB.
3. Methodology
Monitoring shall be carried out using Instantel Miniature Plus vibration and noise
measuring instrument. Data will be stored automatically once a vibration or noise
occurs and the data stored in the data logger can be downloaded to a PC for processing
the data. The data downloaded from data logger shall be analysed using a software
called Balstware.
The monitoring points shall be agreed between the piling contractors, main contractor
and monitoring team and the same will be communicated to the client.
Option 02
This Option is proposed for the monitor Zone B area test pile.
In-between the pile points and the 1st monitoring point, “V-Ditch” is used to reduce
the surface vibration.
All the other monitoring points are same with the option 01.
Ground Vibration and Noise Level supposed to be measured by third party testing
authority with their instrument.
The reference for the maximum vibration level shall be in accordance with Table
B.2 of BS 5228-Part 2:2009. Accordingly, Peak Particle Velocity shall not exceed
50mm/sec at frequency of 4Hz and above.
The reference for the noise level shall be in accordance with Table E1 of BS 5228:
Part 1: 2009. Accordingly, for Category C type structures (which is applicable for
the construction site at VIA),
