the act or process of selling goods, products or services via internet or mobile app,

auction site, Online Classified Advertisement, social medias or web shop. Online

shopping sites contain broad variety of goods both expensive and light qualities for

consumers to choose from. Clothes, electronics, or pets — online shopping trend is

market. After few months, the demand is slowly increasing so with the sales of the

Background of the Study

Online shopping is becoming a suitable way to make all your purchases whether

you’re at home in office, or in a different country. With an online store, profits are no

longer limited by the number of customers that can physically visit the location of the

store.

The number one challenge faced by merchants under the new pandemic conditions

was slow sales. Due to less demand, sellers are forced to stop. To be able to sell

clothes in this time of pandemic, the seller must possess a strategic order creative

approach that can attract the consumers. The seller can either lower the price of one’s

clothing products without suffering any loss, or to make an advertisement that will

show the beauty and uniqueness that one’s clothing products have. The seller must

also have the ability to persuade their customers. E- commerce when you fully

account for the cost of merchandising, processing, shipping, accepting returns. It’s

very difficult, impossible to make at those price points in the businesses that we

compete in, according to a seeking Alpha Transcript.

The COVID-19 disease outbreak has taken a major impact across the world
among nations and individual, from all aspects of life. More communities are
under lockdown, non-essential businesses are being forced to close, and
public areas are normally avoided by consumers. It has also prompted
countless quarantined Filipinos to use the internet to earn money, contributing
to boost in online businesses.

Arreola (2020), presented an evidence that revealed of 64% of Filipino

internet users are spending more time on social media, with 23% indicating
an increased activity in their online shopping activity reported by Hootsuite
and We Are Social,Digital 2020 April Statshot . The websites for e-
commerce, such as lazada and shopee are at the center of these online
shopping platforms. Technology has starting to transformed company
transaction to online into never ending experience marketplace which the
conduct of business has become more and more secure and productive for
vendors.

those who are doing business needs to comply with their tax obligation
through electronics means and register to the bureau. This is similar to
another memorandum released seven years ago, which listed the Philippines
most popular business transaction. such as the Shopee and Lazada shopping
platforms; and online auctions.Arreola(2020)Currently, the Philippines does
not have any special laws allowing for the taxation of online
transactions. However, under the National Internal Revenue Code (Tax Code),
the imposition of tax does not differentiate between firms with a physical
presence and those with a virtual presence only. Online transactions should,
therefore, be taxed in the same manner as traditional ones. If a taxpayer likes
to.

One of the most important lessons that the pandemic has taught us is that the
internet has become increasingly an important business tool. There is no
question that the digital economy in the Philippines and overseas will continue
to flourish with the high level of convenience it provides to customers and
increasing technological advances. The rules governing the taxation of
transactions on the internet or online must be transparent, easy and
equitable, so that taxpayers can easily choose to comply with them.

Foreign

Ecommerce platforms are rising in numbers. It is evident that launching an

online company will support overall retail sales, as it provides a more
convenient way for potential buyers to shop and engage with brands.
According to market research from Rakuten Intelligence(2020), e-commerce
spending in the U.S. compared to the same time last year, more than 30
percent increased between the beginning of March and mid-April. Many
online seller in U.S. focused on selling entertainment product such as video
game, books, etc to adjust in a new normal life in quarantine, americans used
a lot of money on entertainment during this pandemic, therefore online seller
used this opportunity to enhance their income.

Rattner(2020) examined that, before stay-at-home orders were issued in the

U.S., many of the products showing the highest increase in dollars spent in
the first half of April go beyond the necessities.Despite being a fractions of the
overall share of spend, there was a whopping 777% increase in book
purchases, accompanied by 182% growth in the category of toys and games
and 131% growth in leisure and outdoor products, including exercise
equipment. Home improvement (71 percent) and goods for health and beauty
(38 percent) are close behind.

9
Upper Bicutan National High School

Globally, buyers prefer to spend on such necessities such as food and

household goods and, in certain cases, invest more relative to pre-pandemic
levels.Consumers in essentially all the countries surveyed say they would
increase their spending on at-home entertainment due to shifts in media
consumption patterns. But while customers increase their spending on the
products they need, they still consider spending less on other categories.
Obviously, not every sector has been similarly affected by the force majeure
which is COVID-19.For others, it could lead to a sustainable, and maybe
much-needed revival to restore their consumer experience by responding to
increasing values. For other businesses, there is no option but to continue
playing with patience.growing business, however, faces one fundamental
truth: life after the pandemic will look radically different.

Local

The e-commerce researcher said that the Philippines witnessed the largest
increase in the amount of shopping app use (53 percent) and online spending
among the Asian countries (57 percent).

Correspondingly, the total number of shopping visits in the Philippines during the
lockdown period estimated to have grown 4,9 billion. These visits result in real online
spending that puts cash in our online sellers' pockets

As more customers go online, more sellers/retailers carried their products to improve

online advertising by shopback (a cashback reward program platform) this have been
confirmed by many online store in 2019, and partner stores from different categories
are currently on board (Ledesma, 2020).

board"I really can't believe that we broke our 2019 11/11 sales in the first 35 minutes"
said by Nina Cabrera, the young CEO of the local makeup brand Colourette
Cosmetics. They sold 35,800 of their products (thru Lazada and Shopee) by 12:35 am
vs their 25K sales for 1 day last year (Cabrera, 2020).

Foreign

The report indicates that the expected low inflation in e-commerce revenue is mostly
due to the fact that e-commerce sales are expected to increase. Most of majority sales
are anticipated to go online in this year to come, especially for the categories, such as
fashion and consumer electronic. Therefore, retailers will have to think other ways of
acquring growth.

Shortly after publishing this report, the global pandemic started to change all of
retailers and Industry to e commerce. While shops are closed, many customers were
entirely reliant on online shopping. Before, a research conducted by Contentsquare
found an increase in web traffic accros various sectors, with the great teams including
supermarkets,retail tech and media

Usabila by SurveyMankey questioned respondents about their online shopping uses

during a pandemic, 54 percent of respondents in the UK said they do online shopping
more generally, followed by France with 45 percent. In Germany, only 38 percent of
population indicated an increase in online shopping, the remainder (51 percent)
registered approximately the same amount online shopping before Corona virus

the extreme impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on business activities. This research
followed the theory of usage and gratification to base the conceptual model while
introducing a pandemic terror boundary condition.

The aspect of this research is the analysis of how the e-commerce platforms (PEEP)
and sustainable consumption relationship mediates economic gain, which is accurate
on the levels of pandemic fear. Implications for executives and ideology are also
explored.

Foreign
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the investigation of established drivers of online
purchasing behavior is of great relevance, as businesses must anticipate consumer
behavior to maintain a competitive edge during this global crisis.Koch, J.,
Frommeyer, B., & Schewe, G. (2020).

According to their analysis, the findings indicate that normative determinants such as
media reporting on the economic situation are linked to the buying intentions of
customers, while they are not related to the normative impact of near social
networks. In addition, they find out that hedonic motivation is a better predictor of
purchasing intentions than utilitarian motives and that people who practice social
distancing, generation Z and women's exhibit a high rates of hedonic
motivation. They also offer guidance for e-commerce businesses on how to resolve the
purchasing motivations of customers and strategically manipulate normative factors.
