given his/her first ray of knowledge, opening his mind, from an instructor. It takes roughly two to three
months of training.

than the immense power.” orange belt shows that the student is taking in knowledge. The student’s
basic techniques are growing. The beginner student sees the beauty of the art of Taekwondo but has not
yet experienced the power of the technique. It executes forms with appropriate speed, power, and
accuracy.

this belt symbolizes spring and the beginning of even more growth in the student. A green belt student
learns to break through two-inch boards with both his hands and feet, as well as demonstrate an ability
to defend himself. The student that has a green belt learns to further develop and refine his/her
techniques.

Blue is the color of the sky and shows that the student is reaching up to the sky. The belt symbolizes
ambition; the student focuses his/her energy upward toward black belt. Blue belt student demonstrates
the breaking of a two-inch board with a punch and a one-inch board with a turning kick. At this rank, the
student must also grow their humility and patience.

Signifies the red-hot heat of the Sun as the plant continues growing toward it. A red belt student is
higher in rank, he/she acquires more detailed knowledge and, just as the plant grows slowly toward the
Sun. Though the red belt student is familiar in all the techniques, but still lacks of control he/she must
practice executing techniques with control. The red belt student learns to be more cautious as his/her
knowledge and physical abilities increase.

This belt is black because it signifies the concentration of knowledge and control. Black belt is the
highest belt among all. Students having a black belt it is not the end it is the begging of the real training.
Student having black belt able to defend against holds, clubs, knives and unarmed opponents, as well as
break two three-inch boards with any kick or blow.
