El verbo ser o estar.

She is (ella es) she's
It is (él/ella [cosa, animal, tiempo, clima] es) it's

If the subject is a singular noun, then is is used. If the subject is a plural noun, then are is
used.
Si el sujeto es un sustantivo singular, entonces se usa is. Si el sujeto es un sustantivo plural,
entonces se usa are.

1. Are you a student? ¿Eres un estudiante?


Yes, I am a student. Si, soy un estudiante.
2. Is he a teacher? ¿Es el un profesor?
Yes, he is a teacher. Si, él es un profesor.
3. Is she a doctor? ¿Es ella una doctora?
Yes, she is a doctor. Si, ella es una doctora.
4. Are you friends? ¿Son ustedes amigos?
No, we aren’t friends. No, nosotros no somos amigos.
5. Are they brothers? ¿Son ellos hermanos?
No, they aren’t brothers. No, ellos no son hermanos.
6. Is he a classmate? ¿Es él un compañero de clase?
No, he isn’t a classmate. No, él no es un compañero de clase.
