MICROCEM SP 8000

MICROCEM SP8000 is a micro-fine hydraulic binder used for consolidating and waterproofing
rocks and soils through injection of cementitious slurries.

DESCRIPTION

MICROCEM SP8000 is an inorganic micro-fine hydraulic binder developed for consolidating and
waterproofing rocks and soils through injections of cementitious-based mixes. The fineness of this
cement makes it ideal for penetrating into cracks, fissures and pores where ‘normal-sized’ cements
could not pass. It can also be used for the injection and sealing of cracks in concrete repair works.

WHERE TO USE

MICROCEM SP8000 is used either in ground consolidation and waterproofing in all relevant
underground applications. It can be used in either pre or post excavation grouting applications
where an effective low-cost solution is demanded.
It has also found to be particularly applicable in restoration and repair fields with a high
archaeological interest.

Application examples:
 Injection mortars for ground waterproofing.
 Injection mortars for ground consolidation.
 Injection mortar for the restoration and the repair of standard and high performance
concrete.
 Injection mortar for the repair of structures with high archaeological interest.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Due to its micro-fine matrix (Blaine ≥ 8000 cm2/g), MICROCEM SP8000 is particularly suitable
for use in injection mixes requiring a high penetration factor in porous and/or fissured systems
characterized by communicating voids.
Besides the particular mineral composition, the grinding and the granulometric selection, make
MICROCEM SP8000 particularly suited to binary mixes where low viscosity and high stability
are key requirement factors. The cement is able to produce mortars with high water/cement ratios
whilst able to exhibit minimal bleeding.
The rheological properties of the mixes, obtained using MICROCEM SP8000, give the fluid
highly permeable with moderate injection pressures helping avoid structural damages that can occur
with over-pressurisation.
Moreover, MICROCEM SP8000, due to its characteristics, is able to reduce degradation due to
aggressive agents (such as acid rains, etc.), superficial phenomena (such as efflorescence) and
expansion due to alkali-aggregate reaction.

HOW TO USE

For a homogeneous mixture it is advised to introduce the MICROCEM SP8000 powder after
water and before the eventual hyper-plasticizer/super-plasticizer admixture (when required).
To obtain maximum dispersion it is advised to use a “high speed” mixer for some minutes
(normally 3 are enough) until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
Our technical Laboratory is at your complete disposal for optimising the mixture. Please contact our
Underground Technology Team technical service for assistance in product optimisation and
application.

COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER PRODUCTS

MICROCEM SP8000 is compatible with:

 Dynamon and Mapefluid ranges, acrylic based hyper-plasticizer/super-plasticizer
admixtures, able to reduce the W/C ratio or the W/binder ratio maintaining the same
fluidity.
 Cablejet and Expanfluid, expanding plasticizing agents for very high volumetric stability
mortars (expanding ratio: ≥ 400 µm after 48 hours).
 Twin Jet System R, retarding agent for grout injections. It is suggested to use Twin Jet
System R when it is desired to retard the setting times of the mix. Dynamon HAA is used
in systems where acceleration of the mix is required.
 It is also compatible with many other grouting products in the Mapei range.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Do not use MICROCEM SP8000 in traditional concrete. Its rapidity would lead to very quick
setting times. Use MICROCEM SP8000 only for injection applications.

PACKAGING

MICROCEM SP8000 is available in 25 kg bags and 1000 kg big bags.

STORAGE

Store the product in closed containers in a dry, cool and non ventilated area, protected from any
acid contact, for maximum 6 months.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

MICROCEM SP8000 contains cement which, when entering in contact with sweat or other body
fluids, can produce an irritant and allergic alkali-reaction. Use suitable protective gloves, goggles
and face masks. Please consult the product Safety Data Sheet for more safety information.
