The Komen Race for the Cure

 The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation teams


up with nationwide Affiliates, volunteers,
corporate and community partners to sponsor local
fundraising 5K races. It is the largest series of
5K runs and fitness walks in the world. More than
100 races will take place in U.S cities and three
foreign countries in 2001. The Komen Baltimore
Race for the Cure will be held on October 13.

Lee National Denim Day

 Lucy Liu is the National Spokesperson this year


for the worlds largest single-day fundraiser for
breast cancer. To participate, simply put on a
pair of jeans on Friday, October 5, and make a 5

Spotlight On The Cure

 Loews Cineplex Entertainment which includes Loews


Theatres, Cineplex Odeon Theatres and Magic
Johnson Theatres nationwide during National
Breast Cancer Month guarantees a minimum
contribution of 40,000 to the Komen Foundation
for every paid attendance to their theaters.
Additionally, movie-goers will learn more about
breast cancer screening, treatment and research
at Loews theaters through informational
trailers, pre-movie slides, posters, newspaper
and radio public service announcements. Visit

Checks for the Cure

 Deluxe Corporation, www.deluxe.com the world's


largest check printer, provides support to the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Customers can purchase a special check designed
with the pink ribbon and the Komen Foundation
logo. Five percent of each purchase is donated
to the foundation. Each check that is written
will help raise awareness for the cause.
Shoot for Breast Health

 Sears donates .50 to NABCO (www.nabco.org) for


each WNBA fan in attendance on a designated
Breast Health Awareness Night. WNBA players show
their support by wearing pink breast health
awareness T-shirts. Players also conduct a ball
exchange with breast cancer survivors. Pink
ribbons are given out to the first 5000 attendees
at the Awareness Night. Other festivities
include a halftime donation of 5,000 by a Sears
representative in honor of a local breast health
hero. WNBA fans receive printed materials
offering breast health information as well as
view a Public Service Announcement featuring Lisa
Leslie of the Los Angeles Sparks.

Women Rock! Girls Guitars

 A two-hour awareness and fundraising special will


air on LIFETIME Television on Sunday, October 22,
at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) to benefit NABCO and NBCC.
Performing for this benefit concert will be
Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Amy Grant, Heart,
Cyndi Lauper and Wynonna. Visit
