ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM BASED ON RADIO FREQUENCY

IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM ( RFID )

The above topic entitled electronic toll collection system based on radio frequency identification
system explained in details based on current issue at toll collection system. There are some
obstacles faced everyday where the user spend their valuable time in queue at toll gate due to
traffic congestion as well as traditional manual method in most existing toll ETC system to
collect toll form user. Beside that the barrier design where each vehicle stop waiting until barrier
lift which consider source of time delay. To tackle stated problem , an electronic toll collection
system is proposed which based on RFID technology. The integrated system consists of two
main section, electronic sides where all input data received from while database management
office is where all necessary information stored.

Moreover the mentioned sections are named as RFID card and the RFID card reader. The RFID
card is similar to communication protocol used and the medium of transmission. Here in RFID,
the medium for communication wireless whereas in magnetic card it is different wireless
supports fast and distant accessing instead of copying the card to the reader as if in magnetic
card. The communication protocol used by the RFID card and the reader is weigant. Implement
the program in microcontroller to read the data from the reader using the weigant protocol. After
comparing the Id data using the microcontroller we can access control for the user. Here the card
will be given to each vehicle on the payment of deposit.. Thus after the card acts as the pass for
that vehicle. The vehicle information and the owners information will be stored in the system
EEPROM memory ( electronically erasable programmable read only memory )

To compare the current ETC system , in this research elaborated internet of things where all data
transmit through cloud and then to the main office is real time. Not only that, there is some
enhancement based on barrier design where, gate is remained open for all vehicle with sufficient
tags without requiring time delay. By check system throughput various tests have been carried
out in different methods where proposed system throughput much higher percentage the current
system.
