STUDENT REFLECTION ON FEEDBACK AND ASSESSMENT

In the academic year 2019-20 we are asking you, as the starting point for your summative
assessments, to complete this individual Student Reflection on Feedback sheet when you submit your
work.

This coversheet invites you to think about feedback you have received at earlier points in your course
and how you have responded to it in this new piece of work. Thinking carefully about the feedback
you have received previously can help to improve your performance. It is helpful, too, for the marker
to know what feedback you have had previously on similar pieces of work, and how you have tried to
act on it. Knowing the range of different kinds of feedback you have had can also help us to use more
those kinds that are most helpful to you.

1
Either in a comment on what you write here, or in their feedback to you, your marker will engage with
your reflection. The extent to which you have improved on previous pieces of work will NOT affect
your mark. Your work will be marked on the basis of its own merits as a piece of academic work, NOT
on the basis of the answers you give in the box below. Instead, your response will help us to work
with you to make feedback helpful.

What feedback have you received on earlier assessments, or while preparing this assessment?

How have you responded to that feedback in this assessment?

What feedback on this assessment would best help you think about your next one?

The 28th China Beijing International Book Fair will be held on 18 March 2022 at
the China International Exhibition Centre for five days. Founded in 1986, Beijing
International Book Fair (BIBF) is the second largest international book fair, attracting
over 2,600 exhibitors from more than 90 countries and regions around the world each
year. It has been dedicated to copyright trading, physical import and export trade and
reading promotion of Chinese and foreign publications and digital products, and is a
large-scale international publishers' exchange event covering the book, digital and
animation industries.
HarperCollins UK, a well-known British publisher, has signed up to participate
in this exhibition. Although they have a strong presence in China and have worked
with Chinese publishers, it will be the first time they attend a exhibition in China,
therefore they haven’t yet prepared a Chinese version of the materials they would
present, so I am commissioned to do the translation.
After communicating to the sales manager and the head of external propaganda, I
have learned that they have compiled an English version of the promotional material,
which includes five sections: company profile, publication content, company value
system, brand and business partners, and distribution and supply chain, and propose to
print leaflets in both English and Chinese for distribution to visitors around the world
during the fair.
The company said that it is generally difficult for exhibitors to expand their
business or sign contracts in a short period of time, so the main purpose of attending
the fair is just to meet more potential customers and partners to lay the foundation for
future market development, and to inform their peers of their presence in the
meanwhile. The Chinese translation needs to be submitted to them a month before the
exhibition so that they could allow plenty of time for further adjustments, revisions
and printing. In addition, they want me to make a simple layout of the translation after
I have completed the translation, following the model of the leaflet, so that they could
check the content subsequently and the art designers could find the appropriate
information more accurately.
