Subject/Unit The student will become familiar with the stages of full denture construction, the selection and
Overview setting of teeth, the try-ins and the completion of dentures. The student will become familiar with
the anatomical structure of teeth and the intra-oral cavity.
The student will have a fundamental knowledge of the properties of dental acrylics and learn the
procedures for polymerisation, trimming and polishing denture bases. The student will reinforce
the laboratory procedures for the construction of dentures and appliances
The assessment outcomes will encompass these skills and knowledge. There are five
assessments for this unit as shown. The student must complete all assessment tasks, achieving a
satisfactory outcome in each task to be deemed competent

Other All procedures are carried out in a simulated Dental Laboratory in accordance with work health
and safety (WHS) policies and procedures, current infection control guidelines, Australian and
New Zealand Standards, state/territory legislative requirements and organisation policy
