•:• Print out or photocopy some blank character sheets and pre-generated characters (both
are found in the digital download at dndclassics.com or in the “Rules and Documents”
section ofthe WPN site).
•:• Assign an event coordinator. The event coordinator will help manage communication between the
tables throughout the first session and the rest ofthe season. More information on this role is found in
the adventure.
•:• Divide players into groups, and assign each a Dungeon Master.
Players may bring their characters from last season, leveled up to 6th level. For new players, have the
Dungeon Master and other experienced players help them create new 6th level characters. A player
that doesn’t want to create a character can choose a pre-generated character. Character creation and
updating should take about an hour.
DMs should run their groups through the first part ofthe adventure, getting the characters through
the assault on the Bloodgate and setting the stage for the adventure in the l)oomvault. This should take
about 4 hours.
+ Set aside Wednesdays and lock in a start time for your D&D Encounters

+ Print out or photocopy blank character sheets. These can be found in the
digital download or in the “Rules and l)ocuments” section ofthe WPN site.
+ Ifplayers don’t want to make their own characters, give them pregenerated
characters. These can also be found in the digital download at dndclassics.com.
+ Assign an event coordinator. This individual will be responsible for helping
with organization, tracking progress, and communication between tables
throughout the season. More information on this role is found in the adventure.
+ Let the DMs know they’ll need to obtain the adventure prior to the
season’s start. Your 1)Ms need to read and prepare the adventure, so be sure to
distribute the link to the complimentary digital download on dndclassics.com
to get Dead in ThayTM prior to the start ofthe season.
New players mayjoin mid-season. Ifyou have new players starting in the
middle ofthe season, have them create or select a pre-generated character
andjoin the adventure. The l)M can give the new players an update on
what’s happened.
+ DON’T FORGET TO REPORT AFTER EACH SESSION! Collect the tracking sheets at the end of
each session, or keep this information on Wizards Event Reporter. Ifyou have questions on reporting your
play, please contact Wizards ofthe Coast for assistance. Do not let your reporting lapse!
EVENT FEES AND REWARDS
TM season, you may want to come tip with rewards for your 1)Ms
Before you begin the D&D Encounters’
or players to give out during or at the end ofthe season, which you can fund through a small fee to play
during the season. Examples include a copy ofa recent D&D adventure for the DM, dice sets, food/drink,
Dungeon Tiles sets, and other game aids. You can distribute items to players as door prizes or for specific
accomplishments. In any case, we recommend not charging your DMs for prizes, as they are already
committing a lot oftime and effort to running games.
