PERSONAL ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES

OVERVIEW
It is not surprising that in a developing country, there are many self-employed people
because they start with some income-generating project to survive. Even employed people
start and continually engage in “sideline or “rackets” as most Filipino calls it.
Putting up a food business venture is challenging, but enjoyable and rewarding.
However, before embarking on food business, one should be equipped with the essential
traits and competencies of a successful food entrepreneur in order for him/her to overcome
the challenges he/she is likely to encounter.
As you go through this module, you will get to know the following:

Learning Standards and Outcome

Content Standard/s: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the dimension and


characteristics of PEC.
Performance Standard/s: The Learners recommend specific strategies to improve “weak”
areas and sustain “strong” areas in their PECs.
Specifically, you are expected to accomplish the following:

What is PERSONAL ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES?
PEC refers to the desired traits that enable an entrepreneur to do what is expected of him and succeed
in business. It is the combination of these characteristics which is required to perform effectively as an
entrepreneur.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION (30 points)

Choose a food entrepreneur / businessman / successful individual, local or foreign whose success
story has inspired you. Identify his or her entrepreneurial competencies which you think contributed to his/her
success. Give Justification for your analysis by pasting picture of the selected entrepreneur and his/her
success. After analyzing at chosen entrepreneurs PECs, look at your PECs and recommend some strategies for
