1. DEFENITION OF CLOUD STORAGE

Cloud storage is an online or digital file-based storage media that relies on an internet
connection for data access. Cloud storage is a new breakthrough in the world of storage or data
storage that features many advantages when compared to offline store media such as hard drives
and flash drives. So, data stored in cloud storage will be stored on a number of servers managed by
the service provider or commonly called hosting.

Saving files using cloud storage is now more desirable for various reasons. You do not need to
worry about virus attacks or damage as can occur when you save files through the hard drive or
flash. In addition, because all data is stored on the server, security is more secure and is not likely to
be lost. The data that you store can also be accessed at any time. Plus you can also access data
through any gadget as long as it is connected to the internet.

You can get data storage services using cloud storage for free with a predetermined capacity. If
you want a larger storage space, you can use paid cloud storage services as needed. The
development of cloud storage is currently developing very rapidly. Some examples of cloud storage
media that are very popular today are Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive and Dropbox.

Cloud Strorage has several types based on the type of file to be stored. File forms of documents,
images and music have different storage treatments that require different supporting features. cloud
storage has several types, namely personal cloud storage, public cloud storage, private cloud
storage, and hybrid cloud storage.

Personal cloud storage is one part of public storage that can be used to store data privately and
data can be accessed anywhere, in which there is also a synchronization service and sharing to
various media.

Public cloud storage is a type of cloud leased from a service provider and then provides cloud
storage and can manage the entire storage of company data to the cloud, usually in an unstructured
form.

Another type of Cloud Strorage is private Cloud Strorage is a cloud that is intended to be leased
and then the service can through the service provider will form infrastructure in the company's data
center with the aim of increasing the security and speed of data access and support the advantages
of other cloud storage.
2. Cloud Storage Works

The process of storing data to cloud storage can be interpreted by sending a copy to the cloud or
hosting service provider via the internet network. Furthermore, the server will give you access to
download or make changes when you want to open your data. Usually this cloud storage service
does not only rely on one server. Most applications on cloud storage also do not need to install
because it is already installed on internet media, for example Google Drive. You only need to set up
an internet connection and create an account to be able to use Google Drive. As we know that
Google Drive is brought by one of the big companies namely Google Inc. The one who acts as a
server is Google itself.

3. Benefits of Using Cloud Storage

Now, after you learn the understanding and how to work from cloud storage, it's time you know
what are the benefits to be gained if you choose it. By using cloud storage the risk of damage or loss
of data is very small because the data is stored by the hosting server. The use of cloud storage also
does not require hardware, because cloud storage only relies on an internet connection to be able to
access it. Nowadays many online storage media are free of charge, so financially it helps you to save
budget. Cloud storage is also an environmentally friendly storage media because it doesn't need a
device so it won't leave waste.

4. Lack of Cloud Storage Media

 Requires Internet access
Weaknesses in cloud services include, we need internet access to access data stored in
the cloud. Moreover, to upload large files, of course requires a fast and stable internet
network. If it is not supported by a good internet network, then we will have difficulty
saving files to the cloud service.
 Vulnerable to Hacking
The thing that is most feared by users of cloud services is the hacking and burglary of the
service. Because hacking like that, can cause piracy of the files and data that we store on
cloud services.
 Bound To Terms of Service Providers
Another disadvantage of cloud services is that the user must follow the provisions made
by the service provider. So we can not carelessly store data in cloud storage media.
Because if we don't follow the terms of the service provider, they might stop the cloud
service for us.
