Overview of Syllabus
• Pre-requisites:
• Network Theory
• Elements of Mechanical Engineering
• Objectives:
• To define and classify types of control systems with examples.
• To apply analogous and simplification techniques to simplify and analyse the
control systems.
• To understand Time and Frequency Response under various inputs and for
different conditions.
• To analyse the stability of control systems using time and frequency domain
methods (graphical methods).
• Contents:
• Unit-I:
Ch-1: Introduction to control systems
Ch-2: Mathematical Modelling of Control Systems
• Unit-II:
Ch-1: Block diagram
Ch-2: Signal Flow Graphs (SFG)
• Unit-III:
Ch-1: Time response of feedback control systems.
• Unit-IV:
Ch-1: Stability Analysis
Ch-2: Root-Locus Technique
• Unit-V:
Ch-1: Frequency response analysis
Ch-2: Bode Plots
• Outcomes:
• Define and classify the control systems and parameters related to the control
system concepts
• Explain types of Control Systems, response of control systems and concepts
related to the control systems
• Apply mathematical modeling(F-V and F-I analogy) concepts, Signal flow graph
and Block diagram techniques to analyze and simplify the control systems
• Analyze control systems for stability using RH criterion and classical methods,
such as Root locus and Bode plots
