Comedy Central’s Whitest Kids You Know star Trevor Moore with his

song “Geniuses” from the album “High In Church”

(music)

Trevor Moore: (singing) Benjamin Franklin went out into the storm
and bravely led his kite go up in the air
He risked his life on an idea that night
and thanks to him now we have light everywhere

Louie Pasteur never gave up on his cures and thanks to him now
we all have a vaccine
And northert and Wilbert held on til they delivered what til then
had just been in our dreams

Goddamn, white people are geniuses

goddam it really blows me away.
I know it's not cool to talk about
But it’s something that I just gotta say

Studio Manager: Trevor do you

Trevor Moore: (singing) Can you imagine a world where white

people just did not exist ? that would be such a terrible place--

Studio Manager: Trevor

Trevor Moore: yes

Studio Manager: what what-- is that the song?

Trevor Moore: yeah,, why?

Studio Manager: well it's racist

Trevor Moore: what it's not

Studio Manager: yes it is, it's a racist song.

Trevor Moore: what do you mean? I'm just copying things down
exactly from this history book.

Studio Manager: okay you're just saying that only white people
are Geniuses

Trevor Moore: no I'm not. there's geniuses from other races.

Studio Manager: the way you're singing it it's implying that
there are more people who are geniuses that are white than of any
other kind of race.

Trevor Moore: well that's not what the song is about

Studio Manager: well that's what it sounds like

Trevor Moore: really?

Studio Manager: yes really. you can't just single out an entire
race and say they're the ones who are geniuses. You have to
incorporate all the races. you have to talk about black geniuses
, Mexican Geniuses, asian geniuses.

Trevor Moore: okay, I kind of see what you're saying. yeah sorry
about that. okay just just give me a minute I can fix it.okay I
got it. Okay.

Studio Manager: just all kinds of geniuses not just white

Trevor Moore: okay, thank you

Trevor Moore (singing): lots of other races have geniuses too,

don't let anybody tell you other. GeorgeWashington Carver was a
Black guy who's figured out how to make peanut butter… la-da-da
da da da da da

Studio Manager: that's all you got?

Trevor Moore: that's all that's in the history book. it's one
page-George Washington Carver.

Studio Manager: where did you get that book?

Trevor Moore: it's mine from school

Studio Manager: where did you go to school?

Trevor Moore: Virginia in the 1980s, why?

Studio Manager: you know what I'm gonna do? I’m gonna call Doug
in here.

Trevor Moore: oh no no no no don't call Doug don’t---

Studio Manager: No no no no no, I'm gonna bring him in and maybe

you can tell you about some of the famous geniuses of black
history. Hey Doug, are you busy?

Trevor Moore: No no no no no stop stop stop

Doug: hey what's up man?

Studio Manager: hey . this is Trevor.

Trevor Moore: Hey

Studio Manager: he's currently recording a song called white

people are geniuses

Trevor Moore: Oah ah ah…amongst many other races of geniuses.

that's what the full title is gonna be

Studio Manager: he thinks the only thing black people have

invented is peanut butter.

Trevor Moore: no I don’t know I don't I know that black people

have invented tons of things.

Doug: like what?

Trevor Moore: I-uh- like rap. Rap like the hugely popular music
that's integral to our culture ?

Doug: what else?

Trevor Moore: Basketball?

Studio Manager: okay so according to you, the only things that

black people have invented have been rap, basketball and peanut
butter.
Trevor Moore: I know that black people have had a huge part in
shaping this entire country. there were black people that signed
the Declaration of Independence .

Doug: no that did not happen, there were no black people they
were a little busy they were a little tied up at the moment.

Trevor Moore: I'm not very well-versed in other cultures history

so can you…help me?

Doug: all right, well black people invented air conditioning,

cellphones, the stethoscope, typewriters, the first mechanical
heart, doorknobs, elevators, fire extinguishers, the guitar,
stop lights, potato chips, gas masks, the super soaker and
the Cabbage Patch .

Studio Manager: black people none of the cabbage patches?

Doug: No, this.

Studio Manager: that's dope

Doug: but y'all wouldn't know that. y'all wouldn't even think
about it cuz you're so wrapped up in your racist worldview .

Trevor Moore: wow, I didn't know all that Doug, thanks

Doug: don't mention it. I'm charging overtime for this .

Studio Manager: anything you need, Doug, anything. Thank you so

much Doug

Trevor Moore: thank you Doug

Studio Manager: thank you take the rest of the day . So, we're
good?
Trevor Moore: yeah but I'm gonna Google some of that stuff cuz I
don’t know…
