Safety first! Remember to wear a mask, eye, and ear protection while
cutting and sanding wood. Do not use any tools without proper training,
precautions, and/or supervision. Read my full terms of use here.

STEP 1.
Cut pieces and drill pocket holes as follows:
(3) pocket holes on the ends of the B pieces (below, left)
(2) pocket holes on the ends of the D pieces (below, center)

STEP 2.
Build the cubby base. Attach the (2) A side pieces to the (3) B
shelf pieces. The top should have the pocket holes facing up; the
middle and bottom should have the pocket holes facing down. Due
to space, you will likely need a right-angle drill attachment to
drive the pocket hole screws.

STEP 3.
Build the right-side desk base, which is the coloring book holder.
Attach the (3) D pieces to the (2) C pieces.

STEP 4.

STEP 5.
Join the (10) G pieces together lengthwise using wood glue and bar
clamps to form the desk top. Run through a planer to even out the
table top; if you don't have access to a wide-enough planer, you
can use a hand planer or sand as required. If you do not want to
join boards together to make a tabletop, you can buy a pre-made
piece designed for projects like this.

STEP 6.
Attach the cubby and coloring book holder bases to the underside
of the desk top. Do so by flipping the desktop upside down on the
floor; position each base piece and drive wood screws up through
the bottom of the desktop.

Note: If there is any wobbling with you place the desk on your
floors, you can use a felt furniture bottom (the kind designed to
protect your floors from furniture) to help level things out.
