Title : To Prepare PCB LAYOUT for Simple Dual regulated power supply using EXPRESS
PCB software on PC
Hardware: COMPUTER
Circuit Diagram –
Introduction:
Copper Plate
Non-Conducting Substrate
B. Double side PCB:
In double sided PCB, copper tracks are on both sides. These types of PCBs are used for complex
circuits, to avoid the jumper wires.

C. Multilayer PCB:
Multilayer PCBs are used for very high complex and big circuits. Example: multilayer PCBs are
used in CPU of computer.

. Rounding the corners also reduces noise that occur on smaller, thinner lines.
3. Use circular pads at all places except pin one (1), which should be square.
4. All signal traces must originate or end at a pad.
5. T's are permitted on power and ground wiring.
6. All power and ground traces must be a minimum of 0.050 in. wide.
7. Maintain consistent orientation of similar components on the card.
8. The component location screen must indicate the following on the component side:
(a) Component outline.
(b) Component identification code from schematics (i.e. U1, R1,.....)
(c) Orientation of component (notch or pin 1).
(d) Diodes must have anode/cathode marked.
(e) "+" indicating polarity of polarized capacitors.
(f) Card name.
(g) Bright white indelible ink is to be used for the marking.
9. Place at roughly 1 capacitor for every I.C.
IPC, the Association Connecting Electronics Industries (formerly known as the Institute for
Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits), is an organization whose aim is to
standardize the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies.
IPC recommended track width for various currents are as follows.
6. Click on Component and Symbol Manager icon. And see all the component
names, silk screen and distance between terminals.
7. Insert following components into the drawing sheet. You can select find option
also.
a. 3 Pin Connector for Center taped Transformer –1
b. Diodes –4
c. Electrolytic Capacitor 1000uF with lead spacing 5mm –2
d. Voltage Regulator 7805 without mounting hole –1
e. Voltage Regulator 7905 without mounting hole –1
f. Electrolytic Capacitor 10uF with lead spacing 2.5mm –2
g. Resistor –2
13. Assign the component’s Part ID (such as D1 or D2). To do this, select then
double-click on the component to display its Component properties dialog box.
14. Write down the properties of components from component properties dialog box
15. Select bottom copper layer & Write down your name and roll no below the PCB
LAYOUT.
16. Click on File menu, select the print option. And observe the various print options
available
17. Take the printout of Bottom copper layer of PCB and paste it in observation
18. Take the printout of Silk screen, pads and text on top layer of PCB and paste it in
observation
Observation :
Take the circuit of dual regulated power supply.
Draw PCB Layout of dual regulated power supply.
Write down the name and roll no below the PCB LAYOUT using the Express
PCB software.
Take the printout of Bottom copper layer of PCB and paste it in observation
Take the printout of Silk screen, pads and text on top layer of PCB and paste it in
observation
3. View Option & Color Option Window 4. Screen after Components Inserted
10. Print Preview to print 11. Screen, pads and text on top layer of
Screen, pads and text on top layer of PCB PCB
Conclusion:
…………From the above experiment we can conclude that we successfully prepared a
PCB LAYOUT for Simple Dual Regulated power supply using EXPRESS PCB software .

ANS2:…
The advantages of PCB over bread board is
It provides mechanical support for the components mounted on it .
No external wires are required to connect the components.
There is actual contact through copper track hence there is no chance of loose connection.
PCB occupies less space than the circuit assembled on the general purpose circuit board.
Much time is saved using PCB as compared to conventional method to test the circuit.
ANS3:
.The corners of traces (lines) aren’t squared. That is to avoid turn angles of 90 degrees or less .
rounding the corners also reduces noise that occur on smaller, thinner lines.
Use circular pads at all places except pin one (1), which should be square.
All signal traces must originate or end at a pad.

Significance of
LIBRARY COMPONENTS
Good number of components are present in this library which can be used to create a PCB.
CUSTOM COMPONENTS
Those components which are not present in library can be added in custom components and
can be used to create a pcb
FAVOURITE COMPONENTS
The components of our liking are added in favourite components to create a pcb.
