1. Discuss Traditional Drawing - Traditional drawings were monochrome or contained a
small amount of color, while modern colored pencil drawings may straddle or even cross
the line between drawing and painting. Even though similar media are frequently used in
both jobs, drawing and painting are separate in western terminology. The benefits or
the importance of traditional drawings are also obvious; the ability to translate what we
observe in the real world improves our overall creative abilities. It also works the other
way around. When we create, we are better able to convert our thoughts back into reality.
2. Discuss Computer Aided Drawing - Computer aided drawing is the use of computers to
aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. Computer-aided
drawing software is used to improve the designer's productivity, the quality of the design,
communication through documentation, and the creation of a manufacturing database.
Engineers, Architects, and Construction manager use it, and it also replaced manual or
traditional drawing. It allows users to create designs in 2D or 3D in order to envision the
building. The design process can be developed, modified, and optimized using CAD.

1. Computer Aided Drawing - prepares the students in basic and precise drawings so that
they can use it here and abroad.
2. Central Processing Unit / CPU - the vital component of a computer and it has two types
of memory; the ROM and RAM.
3. Graphical Representation - CAD can produce graphical representations of machine
components of highly complex geometries.
4. The Menu Bar - surrounds the following: the file, edit, view, insert, format and tools,
dimension, modify, express, window and help location.
5. User Coordinates System / UCS - is placed at the right bottoms above the model bottom
and stab layout 1 and 2. Display the X axis and Y axis coordinates.
6. Drawing Area - is a wide space where the object is located; it shows the changes or
modifications of the object by typing or clicking commands.
7. Mouse / Puck - is an essential part used in CAD that makes the jobs better. It also used in
dragging, highlighting and pointing.
8. Modify Tool Bar - commands use mostly in editing figures and solids.
9. Standard Tool Bar - located at the top left side of the screen , where you can also save ,
cut or copy print objects.
10. Model and Layout Stab - is used to change the view of the workplace by switching or
clicking the buttons.
