Introduction

A dustpan is a cleaning utensil, commonly used in combination with a broom or

brush. The dustpan may appear to be a type of flat scoop. It is often hand held for

home use, but industrial and commercial enterprises often use a hinged variety on

the end of a stick to allow the user to stand instead of stoop while using it. This

improved dustpan design was patented by African American inventor, Lloyd Ray on

August 9, 1897, although the first patented dustpan was invented by T.E. McNeill

nearly 40 years prior.

A flat pan that is open on one side and into which dirt from the floor is swept. First

use in 1783.

Handheld dustpans may be used with either a full-size broom or with a smaller whisk

broom or brush, sometimes called a duster. This second combination may be sold

as one unit. A variant on the dustpan is the silent butler, a handheld, lidded dustpan.

 The benefits of Dustpan:

 For reaching out-of-the-way places: The tops of shelving units and

wardrobes, window ledges, underneath tables, behind bookcases: these are

all spaces that are hard to access with a vacuum cleaner, even with

extensions or a handheld vacuum. Instead, with a long handled dustpan and

brush, you can reach those out-of-the-way places and clear them of dust.
Before dusting ensure that you remove any items from the shelving units,

window ledges etc.

 For cleaning up larger items that might damage your vacuum cleaner:

Vacuum cleaners are great at picking up hair and dust — but larger items like

spilled crisps, chunks of broken glass, or dried pasta can either damage your

vacuum cleaner or cause a messy blockage inside them. A dustpan and

brush set is easier to use, and less susceptible to damage.

 When you don’t want the hassle of setting up the vacuum cleaner: For all

their speed at sucking up dust, vacuum cleaners are still clunky devices that

need to be wheeled out, plugged in, and set up. If you only have a small area

to clean, it’s often a lot easier to rely on the dustpan and brush.

 When you don’t want the noise of a vacuum cleaner: Say you’ve spilled

some cereal in the middle of the night and you don’t want to wake your family

or your pets. Or someone’s upended a bowl of crisps and you don’t want to

interrupt your party. Using a dustpan and brush is a lot quieter and less

disruptive than a vacuum cleaner, and still does the job.

 When you want to be eco-friendly: A vacuum cleaner uses electricity, a

dustpan and brush set doesn’t. Every time you opt for a dustpan and brush

instead of the vacuum, you’re doing your bit to help the planet!

The reason why we choice Dustpan is to help the highschool students to

prevent dirt in their classroom to give them a dustpan by room. And to have

the partner of the broom to swept the dirt, every rooms need dustpan

because sometimes there dustpan has been lost because of missed place.
And to give them a smile from there face even in a small things that we will

give to them and to help them. And the reason of this is to penetrate the

cleanliness of their room.

Significance of the Advocacy

To the students so that their classroom is good to their eyes and they can focus and

they can study well.

To the teachers so they can teach well, without any disturbance because of the dirt

and to help the students to study well.

To the parents for their children not to cope up any diseases.

To the JCFC community so that the hallways will look decent in the eyes, and they

will not cope up any disease.

To the future advocate to have an idea about the dustpans.

At JCFC some of the rooms lacks dustpan and we aim to provide a dustpan in

highschool rooms to maintain the cleanliness of their rooms. Because when the

room is clean they can focus on their study and the teacher can teach well and they

can’t cope up any disease.

Scope of Advocacy

The scope of advocacy is limited to Jose C. Feliciano College Foundation. The study

focused on the rooms that don’t have dust pans to use to swept the dirt in rooms that

we will give in high school students regarding the cleanliness of the school.

Present situation
We came up to this study, because we can see that other rooms is dirty and others

students borrowed dust pans that can cause distraction to the discussion of the

teachers, so that we came up to that study.

Propose solution

For this advocacy our propose solution is to give dust pans to keep the cleanliness

for the classrooms that don’t have dust pans. So that they can’t disturb the lessons

of the teachers.

Benefits

This advocacy can benefit the students for them to focused on their study and not to

cope up any diseases, this can also benefit the teachers so that they cannot distract

by the dirt.
