Extension education is an applied science

drawn from the behavioural sciences,
synthesised with useful technology, in a
body of philosophy, principles, contents
and method focused on the problems of
out of school education for adults and
youths (Leagans, J.P.)
Extension is an education and its
purpose is to change the attitude and
practices of the people with whom the
work is done (Ensminger, D.)

Extension education is an educational


process to provide knowledge to the
rural people about the improved
practices in a convincing manner and to
help them to take decisions within their
spesific local conditions (Dahama, O.P.)
Extension education is the act of putting
across to the people, in an
understandable manner, new ideas and
improved technology of practical utility
and to enable them to put them into
practice so as to improve their general
standard of living through their own

available to the villages, scientific and
other factual information and training
and guidance for the solution of
problems of agriculture and rural life
