SPEAKING 5 – CODE S5.

PART 1
In this part of the test, you are asked to give a short talk on a business topic. You have to
choose one of the topics from the two below and then talk for about one minute. You
have one minute to prepare your ideas.

A: What is first time Impression?

First impressions mean everything, especially in the professional world. You may only
have one opportunity to show a client or customer what you’re about. In business, as in
social situations, first impressions are crucial. Giving a bad first impression can lose
you the confidence of prospective employers, customers and clients, and even cost
you business. The first impressions you give a customer or client will set the tone for
your future business relationship and shows that you are professional and prepared

B: Can you name some of the ways to make a good first


time Impression in Business?

Greeting confidently

spend at least as much time listening as talking

dressing appropriately

use positive body language ( stand straight, eye contact…)

research your client/ parter

PART 2
In this part of the test, you are given a discussion topic. You have 30 seconds to look at
the task prompt and then about three minutes to discuss the topic with your partner.
After that, the examiner will ask you more questions related to the topic.

For two candidates

You have been asked to suggest ways on how to make first time impression in your
meetings with clients locally and internationally.
Discuss the situation together and decide:
 What change would you like to do to make a good first impression?
 how you will motivate your staff to make a good first impression in business?

 You don’t need to overly-focused on dressing for success. Just dress appropriate.
 Heartily listen to the speaker/ your audience instead of talking all the time
  Before you connect with your potential business partner or client, it's important
to do your research on them.
 Practicing new potential content before presentation

2. Motivate staff to make a good first impression by training them through case study,
give them some useful tips that you conclude. Let them mirror their tone and use their
body language infront of you and carefully observe, reflect how other person do.

2. Can you suggest effective ways to make a good first impression?
3. Would you rather make a good first impression and win a project or be yourself and
loss one?
