Geographical importance of Pakistan

Despite the fact that the country's geography remains the same, the interpretations of interests
associated with it have improved slightly as regional and international dynamics have changed.

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

The $46 billion 'China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,' called a 'Game-Changer,' is more than just
a network of roads linking Kashgar, China, with the Gulf States via Gwadar, Pakistan. The
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a comprehensive package of energy projects and
trade opportunities for Pakistan. It is the most coveted fruit of Pakistan's historical geographical
significance. However, some credit must go to Pakistan's foreign policymakers, who have always
held Sino-Pak shared interests in mind.

As a result of CPEC, China will have the shortest route-access to the Middle Eastern, African,
and European markets ever possible. It could be a new benefit for Pakistan, but for China, this
access is part of a long-term strategic strategy to take over the United States control in the said
regions.

Gwadar port is the nearest warm-water port to energy-rich Central Asian Countries

Gwadar was purchased from Oman in 1958 and built into a warm-water seaport, which is now
owned by a Chinese firm called 'China Overseas Port Holding Company' under a 43-year lease
agreement. The port serves as the beating heart of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Gwadar is another manifestation of Pakistan's geographical significance, as it is the closest deep-
sea port to the landlocked Central Asian Republics.
