I’ll never forget touring the rainforest in Australia. It was an amazing experience.
I went on a nature walk in Lamington National Park. I went with a guide and a
small group. The trees, the waterfalls, and the wildlife were all amazing. The guide
explained the different plant species and animals around us. There was this really
Troy colorful bird. The guide told us it’s very rare. He also said that it might be extinct
soon. I was very lucky to see one! That trip will always be a special memory for me.
My dad’s sister lives in Australia. We came and stayed with her for a few days.
Sydney is great town for sightseeing. We spent a day at Bondi Beach, of course.
Then we took an evening cruise on Sydney Harbor. On our last day, we saw Carmen
at the Opera House. It was my first opera ever, and I loved it. The only unpleasant
Mina part was when a jellyfish bit me while I was swimming. That hurt.
I’m from New Zealand and go to Australia about twice a year. Last year, my friend
and I went scuba diving and swimming at the Great Barrier Reef. I wanted to see the
wildlife, especially sharks! The wildlife there was wonderful. However, it wasn’t a
completely pleasant experience. I saw two other divers touching the coral. You can’t
Avi do that because it causes damage. The diving guide knew this, but he let the people
do it anyway! I was shocked. I even made a complaint to the diving company.

Questions 14-18
For each question, choose the correct answer.
I’m healthy but a little unlucky. I’ve had to stay in the hospital for a few days twice now. The most recent
time, I was 13. I was skateboarding, and I broke my ankle badly. Before that, when I was 8, the reason was
bronchitis. That’s a condition that you get when a virus gives you a bad cough and a runny nose. It makes it
hard to get enough air.
Hospital stays are no fun, and they can be scary. That’s why I’d like to offer some advice to kids about them.
First of all, you don’t have to be bored and uncomfortable. Ask your parents to bring your favorite things
from home. During my last stay, I watched funny movies on my laptop. Also, find out if the hospital has a
special room with art supplies, toys, and games.
If you’re missing school, your parents or friends could bring you your homework. But if you feel terrible and
need to rest, then rest. When I was sick, I couldn’t do schoolwork. I didn’t get in trouble.
You might share a room with another kid. Be friendly and polite to them, and they will be, too. My
roommate also broke a bone skateboarding! She and I still chat online sometimes.
Finally, try to be positive. It’s normal and OK to feel nervous. But doctors and nurses are smart. They know a
lot about illnesses and injuries. Do what they say—but don’t be shy about asking questions. And remember:
you’ll be feeling better and going home soon!
