EPISODE 54 GUIDE
IN THIS EPISODE, CHILDREN WILL
understand what it means to be a leader
learn that leaders take responsibility
be inspired by Raya and how she built leadership skills by supporting her family

discussion questions
Zara demonstrated her leadership skills when she took responsibility for breaking Big
Jim’s window. What was an experience where you took responsibility for something
you did?
Just as Raya supported her family, great leaders help others and take action. What is
one way you can help others in your family or your community?
According to Big Jim, great leaders celebrate their wins but they also admit when
things go wrong. What else do you think makes someone a great leader?

Try these activities

1. Print off the “Ways to Make a Difference” activity in our Podcast Season 1 & 2 Kit.
With this activity, children can brainstorm ways they can be leaders and take action to
support their communities.
2. Creating visuals is an excellent way to provide support as your child builds leadership
skills. Work together to create a “Ways to be a Leader” poster to illustrate all the
characteristics of being a leader. This visual will remind your child they have what it
takes to be a great leader.
3. In our article “How to Raise Kind and Caring Children,” we offer ideas of how your
child can make a difference both in their community and the world. Pick one or two
ideas you plan to do this month.
