Asia is known for its size as it covers approximately the 30% of the Earth’s land
surface. Also, it is known as the home of the half of the world’s population. Asia’s
physical geography, environment and resources, and human geography can be
considered separately.
Asia is home to the world's first civilizations. Their indigenous cultures
pioneered many practices that have been anchored in societies for centuries, such as
agriculture, urban planning, and religion. The social and political geography of the
continent influences and continues to influence the rest of the world.
In this continent, there are a lot of majestic places that is well recognize and
appreciated around the world.
These are just some of the places that put the Asia continent in spot:
1. Mesopotamia – where the first civilization emerged
2. Indus Valley – another hotspot of early civilization, known for its early forms of
urban planning and construction.
3. Tibetan Plateau – considered the largest and highest are ever to exist in the
history of Earth.
4. Rub’ al Khali desert – it is the world’s largest sand sea
5. Lake Baikal – considered as the deepest lake
6. Yangtze River – it is the longest river is Asia and the third longest in the world
7. Bay of Bengal – it is the largest bay in the world, covering almost 2.2 million
square kilometers
The Asian continent is divided into five (5) different regions, East Asia, Southeast
Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and West Asia. The following are the countries
under their respective regions:
