Central Asia
North Asia is comprised of countries that formerly belonged to the soviet
Union or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). After the
dissolution of the USSR in 1991, the former Soviet Republics declared
their independence. In its entirety, North Asia's territory is estimated
to be 4,072,000 km2. Some of Asia's notable water forms and landforms
can be found in this region. One of which is the Caspian Sea that serves
as the border of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan. Between
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is the Aral Sea. Little by little, this lake is
becoming narrower. This is because water from two rivers which should
flow towards the Aral Sea is instead being used for irrigation. Efforts are
being made to save the part of Aral Sea that is slowly drying up.
Karakum, one of the largest deserts in the world, can also be found in
North Asia.

South Asia
There are seven countries in South Asia. The region nasa of 4,123,000 km2,
comprising almost 10% of Asia's land. The region has a total land area
India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan

Dhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan are in the Indian subcontinent. At the south
of the subcontinent are the archipelagos of Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Geographers believe that the South Asian region—a large part of which is
the Indian Peninsula-was initially detached from the continental Asia.
As the land continued to shift, South Asia slowly moved toward
continent until it became a part of Asia. This is why India is known as
Asia's subcontinent.

countries, the largest of which are Saudi Arabia and Iran. The total land
area of the region is 6,811,000 km2.

Looking at the map, you will notice that there are two peninsulas and three
large bodies of water in West Asia. The largest among the peninsulas is
the Arabian Peninsula. It is surrounded by the Red Sea to the west, the
Persian Gulf to the east, and the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea to
the south. A large part of the Arabian Peninsula is occupied by Saudi
Arabia. To its south are Yemen and Oman. In the east are the United
Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Importance of Asia’s
geographical condition
The division of Asia into five geographical regions is
useful in significant in the study of the continent’s
physical feature. Furthermore, it facilitates the appropriate
use of historical and cultural consciousness of Asian
countries to effectively understand and study Asian
history
