Hello All,

Here are some more useful links that I may refer to:

TOEFL: Home

https://www.ets.org/toefl/better_test_experience (read the FAQs; hyperlink is near the bottom)

The Official Guide to the TOEFL Test - Speaking - Honesty (really detailed templates/scripts)

Campus Vocabulary--it's useful to be familiarized with North American campus terms! Do extra
research on things you come across that you are not 100% sure about (ie credits, dorms, etc.)

Spanish Cognates | SpanishDict--glance at the whole list! You never know if you are actually using
some false cognates incorrectly!

TOEFL iBT: Test Preparation --you will want to purchase and download this book at least a week
before the test to get the true iBT experience before sitting the real test.

See you all next Saturday!

Hello All,

I am writing to introduce myself as your teacher for the TOEFL preparation course starting this
evening, and to send you some useful supplementary sources that I may refer to at times during
the course.

I have included some attachments and links that have proved very useful for others. When you
have time, glance through and decide what, if any, you might want to print or download for
reference. I refer to the synonym list, transition words and Honesty website quite a bit. You may
want to print the checklist and templates, or simply download in order to make your own
modifications.

Here are your books, if you don't already have them: Toefl Student Kit You might want to have
these downloaded and opened before our sessions; especially on the days that we have reading
practice.

Below you will find the link to our course highlighted in blue. Please be vigilant with your email in
the minutes before class time in the weeks to come, as the link could easily "break" or not work, in
which case I will make a new one and send it to all before classtime.

Some things to be mindful of for Zoom classes:

--Background noise/distractions: please mute your mic if there are noises in the background (tv,
birds, dogs...)

--Limited participant view: when in sharing mode (about 99% of class time) only a few faces are
viewable at one time. This means if someone becomes disconnected, disappears, etc I may or
may not notice right away. Please e-mail if you cannot re-enter so that I will see the message
ASAP.

--Zoom features: only on a computer are all the features available, thus I strongly recommend not
using other devices

--Waiting room: upon entering class, you will be in a virtual "waiting room" in which I will let
everyone enter at our designated time. This allows you to come in early to check your video,
audio, and other settings before our start time. Your microphone is automatically muted by default,
so you will need to manually turn it on each time by clicking it.

--Note-taking: You will be taking lots of notes! Have both scratch paper and a notebook for taking
notes you need to keep, and notes for practice questions. There's a lot of both in this course.
Develop an organization method that works for you.

--The test-taking experience: try to not look at questions or prompts until the timer has started.
This helps prevent "extra" time that you will not have during the actual test. We may end up using
our own clocks for some activities, so keep your phone or timer device charged and conveniently
located during our class time.

I hope you find the attachments useful! Here is your Zoom meeting information. Hopefully we can
use this same link for every session. (So keep this email, or copy the link to a place where you will
not lose it.)

Jennifer Perron is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Cualquier duda/consulta estamos a tú disposición.

Cordiales saludos,

Robert
