NOTICE OF RELATED CASES

On November 15, 2021, George Whitfield joined with ten other

people jailed in Sarasota or Manatee county and filed a single habeas

petition claiming they were similarly detained pretrial through an

unaffordable bail without due process in violation of the Fourteenth

Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Whitfield v. Hoffman, No. 2D21-3476

(Fla. 2d DCA).

On November 16, the Court dismissed that petition without prejudice

for each of the 11 petitioners to file a separate petition.

On November 17, each of these 11 petitioners filed a separate

petition. The 11 cases within the number range of 2D21-3533—2D21-3543

are all related. Raising the same claims in the dismissed mass-petition,

each petition again seeks this Court’s guidance to lower courts as to the
process due before the State may deprive any accused of liberty through

an unaffordable bail.
