𝑐𝑜𝑠40𝜋𝑡 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠60𝜋𝑡 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠100𝜋𝑡. The sampling frequency is 100 Hz. Write the expression
of DTS. Plot its spectrum.
b) Determine the response of the (relaxed) system characterized by the impulse response 2×3

c) Determine the direct form II structure realization of the following LTI system: 12𝑦(𝑛) +
𝑦(𝑛 − 1) − 4𝑦(𝑛 − 3) = 𝑥(𝑛) + 2𝑥(𝑛 − 4).
5. a) Write a transfer function of 2nd order all pass filters and show the locations of the poles and
zeros.
b) Consider the filter 𝑦(𝑛) = −0.9𝑦(𝑛 − 1) + 𝑏𝑥(𝑛)
(i) Determine 𝑏 so that |𝐻(𝜋)| = 1.
2+4
(ii) Determine the frequency at which |𝐻(𝜔)| = 1/√2.
(iii) Is this filter lowpass, bandpass, or high pass?

b) Write the transfer function of a digital IIR notch filter and illustrate its response with
magnitude plot. Explain the response of the filter with placements of poles and zeros. 2×
c) A digital notch filter is required to remove an undesired 50-Hz hum associated with a power 3
supply in an ECG recording applications. The sampling frequency used is 200 Samples/s.
(i) Design a second-order IIR notch filter to have gain |𝐻(𝜔)| = 1 for 𝜔 = 0.
8. a) Discuss the steps of IIR filter design using Impulse Invariance Transformation IIT (IIT).
b) Design a digital low-pass Butterworth filter using IIT for the given design specification: pass
band edge 1 kHz, stop band edge 3 kHz, maximum frequency 4 kHz, maximum pass band 2+4
attenuation (𝛿𝑝 ) 0.9 and minimum stop-band attenuation (𝛿𝑠 ) 0.1.
9. a) Discuss the steps of band-pass filter design using digital-to-digital frequency transformation
technique.
b) Determine the system function 𝐻(𝑧) of Chebyshev digital filter having least possible circuit
complexity to meet the following specifications:
1+5
(i) 1 dB ripple in the pass-band 0 ≤ Ω ≤ 2 kHz.
(ii) At least 40-dB attenuation in the stop band 4 < Ω ≤ 5 kHz.
