Define the problem

In this case, the issue is that the nurse in charge of a busy medical-surgical unit, Jill, has

provided electronic medical record access to the clinical instructor. The nurse faces multiple

tasks to attend to a patient in intensive care or discuss with the clinical instructor about nursing

students' assignments the next day. The issue is urgent because the access to non-authorized

persons is a violation of organizational policy.e This jeopardizes the protection of confidentiality

and privacy offered by the institution. Although Jill is faced with a dilemma, it is highly

unethical for the professor to access medical records since personal interests can be pursued.
