A. Body paragraph 1 - history

1. Topic Sentence: Both cities are rich in world and national history, though they developed on very
different timelines.

2. Supporting Ideas:

a) rich cities in the world and national history

b) As part of the Roman Empire and the hub of the British Empire, London had significant global power.

c) Formal existence of Washington, DC since the late 18th century.

d) Washington, DC could not become the capital city of the US until 1790, but after that Washington,
DC, has increasingly maintained significant global influence.

3. conclusion: Despite the fact that both cities have different histories, they have had a major social
effect in the global economic and cultural arenas in the past.

of the world’s most prized treasures.

has very few minorities.

3) conclusion: The racial demographic differences between the cities are drastic.

III) CONCLUSION:
Both the cities have differences along with similarities. The major differences lie in their history, art
culture and racial demographics, but the bridge that makes them similar is in their cost of living, and
their socioeconomic disparity.
