To Protect the Environment is to Save the Earth

Good morning, instructors, and good friends. First and foremost, I'd like to
express my gratitude for this opportunity, and it's my joy to introduce myself. My
name is Kyle Edrian D. Bandola, and I am a grade 12 ICT student at Cainta Catholic
College. My family and I live in Iloilo City, Visayas, but we are currently residing in
Cainta Rizal because of the higher income and more work opportunities.
Environment, what is environment? What is environment based on the bible?
Why is the environment so important? And why should we care for the
environment? This is the first of a few questions I'd like to answer, so what exactly
is the environment? The term "environment" refers to the sum total of all living
and non-living elements, as well as their effects on human life. Non-living or
abiotic elements include water, land, sunshine, rocks, and air, while all live or
biotic elements are animals, plants, forests, fisheries, and birds. To put it simply
the term "environment" refers to everything that surrounds us.
So, based on the bible in Genesis 2:15 says: “The Lord God placed that man in the
Garden of Eden and let him repair and take care of it”. We acknowledge that all
created things belong to God (3) and we are responsible to him as stewards of
creation. God commands us to rule the creatures in a way that maintains,
protects, and enhances his works, so that all creatures can achieve the purpose
God assigned to it. We must manage the environment not only for our own
benefit, but also for the glory of God.
Some people may argue that human beings are more important than other
creations, so we should focus on meeting people's needs rather than solving
environmental problems. However, many of our environmental problems will
have a negative impact on people. If we don't care about the environment we live
in, God's people will suffer for it. Caring for the non-human parts of creation and
maintaining the intricate interaction between them is an important part of
seeking justice for God's people.
Others may argue that protecting the environment is not important compared to
other God-given tasks, such as sharing the gospel. But God cares about the
material world and the spirit world, and the restoration of creation is part of the
good news for Chris. We must not neglect the task of sharing the good news of
Christ's redemptive work in our lives, but neither must we neglect the task of
"tending the garden." Caring for God's creations is part of our service to God and
an integral part of our role as servant leaders in God's kingdom.
In daily life, we can do many things to help protect God’s creation, such as saving
energy and reducing waste. These will never interfere with our testimony to
unbelievers. On the contrary, when others see us putting our faith into action,
they will strengthen our testimony. Our attention to the environment can open
up opportunities to share with non-believers that our service to creation is full of
our love for God, the creator.
We worship the Creator God more fully by seeing His glory in the creation and
participating in His work of maintaining and restoring proper relationships in the
creation.
So how important is the environment to us? The environment plays an important
role in healthy life and the existence of life on earth. The earth is home to
different biological species, and we all depend on the environment for food,
air, water and other necessities. Therefore, saving and protecting our
environment is important to everyone. The entire life support system of human
beings depends on the well-being of all species living on the earth. This is
commonly known as the biosphere, a term coined by the Russian scientist
Vladimir Vernadsky in the 1920s. The biosphere refers to a global ecosystem in
which all living things are interdependent. Generally speaking, in the biosphere or
ecosystem, there are smaller ecosystems, such as tropical rain forests, oceans,
deserts, and tundra.
So why should we care about the environment? One of the main reasons we must
work hard to protect the environment is because it helps protect human beings. If
we don't have our environment, then we don't have a place to live or resources to
live. If we do not protect the environment, another huge factor at risk is the
surrounding forests on which we depend. Forests have many natural resources
that we usually use every day. When we think for the first time on the reason why
we should protect our environment, we should know that it is our moral
obligation. As a person who lives on Earth, it is our responsibility to make sure he
is protected. In general, when answering the question of why we should protect
the environment, there are many reasons. This is the only place we should live,
and we should treat it with care and respect.
