idea.
2. A thesis statement should not be:

ii. Too narrow
iii. Too personal
iv. Statement of fact

3. Paraphrase is a process in which a writer renders the essential ideas in a text, which could be a
sentence or a paragraph using one’s own words.
4. Paraphrasing is important because it helps the writer to avoid plagiarism, and helps to grasp the full
meaning of the original text.
5. An outline can either be:
i. Topic outline
ii. Sentence outline

Briefly explain your answers.
1. Does the summary present the thesis statement of the text? Yes, because the main topic of the
original text is well explained in the thesis statement.
2. Does the summary present the important details only?
Yes, because the information is all about the main topic.
3. Are the details paraphrased? No, because the summary was written based on the ideas of the
author presented in the original text. The paraphrased version isn’t properly cited either.
4. Does it use declarative sentence? Yes, because it’s stating facts, and there’s no answerable
question.
5. Does it use third person point of view? Yes, because the writer addressed the subject by
“he/him/his”.
