II. SUBJECT DESCRIPTION

The course offers an overview of the Culture and Economy of the United States, highlighting its economic development.
Likewise, it studies the relations of the American power with Latin America and the Caribbean, specifies in the relations
that Colombia has traditionally maintained with the United States and finally, the discussion on the integration processes
that are currently taking place in the region is opened

III. BASIC ACHIEVEMENT OF THE SUBJECT


To awaken in students the ability to analyze international economic and business processes through the study of Latin
America and its international environment, understanding how it is influenced by the economic, political and social
decisions that emerge from the United States economy, with particular emphasis on the implications for the Colombian
case. Similarly, carry out comparative analyzes of the regional integration processes taking place in Latin America.

 Develop skills to use computer tools to search, analyze and share information on current issues related to the
economy of Latin America, understanding the complexity of the regional environment (ICT, thinking).
 Develop oral and written communication skills in the English language, coherently exposing their ideas and
arguments about Latin America (communicative)

 Acquires skills to understand and analyze critical thinking structures, assumes responsibilities and makes team
decisions for the elaboration of a formative research project, identifying, posing and solving a specific
problematic situation regarding international negotiation in Latin America (intellectual, Thought , humanistic

 Understand the determining elements at the historical level of the configuration of the region at the political,
social and economic level, to understand some of the causes of its current status.
 Understand the role of the United States as a global economic hegemonic power.

VII. ANNEXES
1. Didactic Development of the subjects in Undergraduate Classroom

According to the training by competencies scheme, the educational process is oriented in the classroom
generating an environment that encourages individual and participatory reflection and appropriation of
knowledge, in this way, the student is the protagonist in said process, focused on learning fruit of the
understanding, analysis and generation of new knowledge, within a process aimed at achieving verifiable
objectives in terms of communicative, socio-humanistic, ICT, thinking and intellectual autonomy competences.

On the other hand, the student must work both individually and in teams in the investigation and preparation of
proposed topics, in solution of exercises, workshops, and presentation of reports.

In addition to the above, complementary reading verifications will be developed to the central themes, illustrated
oral exposition of the themes and, finally, the student must demonstrate their ability to implement the core
concepts and skills of this subject.

In addition, it will be used:

• Formative research projects


• Participatory class
• Teamwork, with workshops, workshop support, quantitative and qualitative analysis, student-teacher
interaction.

2. Evaluation of the subjects in Undergraduate Classroom

The evaluation system of the subject is made up of three sections that integrate partial and final evaluations (such as:
written tests, verification of readings, resolution of extra-class exercises, participation in conferences, forums or other
events, case development, exercises , workshops, exhibitions, class participations, teamwork, information search,
simulation of scenarios and critical situations, classroom projects, support and defense of the reports prepared, etc.),
which will be adjusted to the percentages established by the institution.

Within the student's training, evaluation is a fundamental part of learning, for this reason it is considered a formative
evaluation that fosters spaces for academic reflection by each of the students.

The evaluation will be oriented towards growth, generating development in all students and controlled by himself in such
a way that it generates self-confidence, self-control, self-esteem and autonomy to achieve greater degrees of
responsibility.

The evaluation is shared by all the participants in the group learning process, it is also dynamic, given that the objectives
and competences to be achieved are continuously revisable and are oriented towards action as this program implies
