Report Reflection

Question Number 1
How did your group compose your report, step by step?

Answer
The group report composition was one of the challenging tasks, therefore, we divided the
report areas among one another. First, we all collected the data together and then we defined
our methodology of composing the report. Secondly, we distributed the sections of the report
equally distributed among one another. Data collection was done together as a group activity,
however, after collecting data we worked individually on report sections divided. Thirdly, we
sit together and combined entire report keeping in mind the cohesion and link between
chapters. We composed entire report and proofread it together before submitting it.

Question Number 2
Who was your audience for the external proposal? Who was your audience for the manual?
How did you write in a different way for each audience?

Answer

Question Number 3
A large part of this report is teamwork. How did you decide how to divide up the work /
communicate / assemble your report?

Answer
Any individual’s capability is well judged by his teamwork skills. It was very difficult to
compose a group report where every participant is equipped with different sets of skills. We
took advantage of these skills and divided the work according to those sets of skills. We
wrote down the content of the report and asked every individual to select the parts of report
as per their choice. Usually, we work on zoom meeting due to COVID and share our ideas
and progress of the work. We share every section we complete with one another and provide
feedback for the improvement.

Question Number 4
For this assignment, how did the idea of purpose affect your writing? What did you do to tie
parts of your proposal to your audience?

Answer

Question Number 5
Did you use bullet points, numbered lists, or tables? If so, how? Which graphics did you use
– and why did you use each one?

Answer
Yes, we used different writing styles while composing the report. We used, comparison tables
to compare different options we have with their unique features so that the reader can easily
differentiate the best options they have to do the work. We used figures also where required
as to provide graphical representation of our ideas. We have used number lists also which are
essential part of the report as to provide the reader an ease to see the available options in
specific section. The purpose of using all these styles were to present a comprehensive report
which cover every aspect of the report, with an intention of providing ease for the reader in
understanding the idea.

Question Number 6
What grammar / language from class did you use while working on this report?

Answer
We have been working on different projects for many courses, however, we must admit this
course has almost revolutionized our writing skills. The course has opened many doors of
learning aspects. Before this course, we knew how to write a report but, in this course, we
now know how to produce a report from several drafts we made during different phase of the
project. Grammar and language were one of the key aspects we took care during the report
writing phase. We come to know, in this course, about formal writing and language.
Academic writing is a complete theme which we have learnt during this course while
composing this report.

Question Number 7

What kind of design and layout did you choose (horizontal, vertical, or some combination of
these two)? What color scheme did you use? Why did you make these choices?

Answer

The report we composed as a group task we decided in the beginning that we will keep it
simple and easy for the reader to understand the findings we are presenting. The layout we
chose was vertical. We decided not to trouble the reader by providing combination of layout
in one report, infact our findings were straight and to the point, we didn’t bombard our reader
with lots of technical information therefore, findings were presented in simple tabular form.
Color scheme was also kept simple. Only some headings were filled with cyan color,
otherwise entire report is composed with black standard color.

Question Number 8

After your first draft (Pages 2 and 3 of your portfolio), how did you revise your report? Did
feedback from your instructor help? Did you get help from some of your classmates?

Answer
The composition of report has been done in different phases. With every phase of writing we
reviewed our draft, shared with our instructor for feedback. We revised the report according
to the feedback of our instructor. As discussed in previous question of this section, we also
shared our views about writing of each participant of the group and based on the comments
we kept revising our work. We didn’t take help from any of our classmate however, during
class sessions, every classmate shared their opinion and views about the project which is
headed by our instructor.
Question Number 9

What was the most difficult thing about the report? Which part of the report did you enjoy the
most?

Answer

Overall, it was a good experience of composing this report. However, there were many
phases where we struggle in collecting the data and compiling it. The most difficult thing was
to select the methodology of data collection and also distribution of tasks. The most
enjoyable part of the report was writing the background and introduction. It was all research
based, reading different academic sources and writing these two sections.
